"Ow!" Connor sat up and flipped Seth off, rubbing at the back of his head with his other hand. "I'm not freaking kidding, man. I think her purse is still somewhere around here. Or maybe her bra..."

Seth blinked. Oh shit.

"Wait, wait," he said, holding his hands up. "You screwed Ashlee? After Red gave me grief for two hours over even hitting on her? How is that fair, like, at all?" he complained.

"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!" Connor whined rather loudly and collapsed back onto the bed, onto his back as he stared up at the ceiling.

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth snapped out of thinking with his lower half. "Oh, right, the bastard."

He rubbed his ear. "Um...my condolences? Come on, she was most definitely on the pill. Else she'd never sleep with you. Be reasonable. She'd never get drunk enough for an accidental hookup if she wasn't protected."

"Dude- how would you feel if you woke up and realized you didn't use a condom and she was TELLING you how she wanted to have your baby?" Connor frowned at Seth, narrowing his eyes a little as he propped up on his elbows.

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth's jaw dropped. "She...she..." He felt his lips quiver a bit and stifled his laughter. He sincerely doubted Ashlee was that desperate. So she was probably having fun with Connor.

"Oh, that's...bad. Damn, guy, that's really - " He choked and a stifled burst of laughter escaped before he restrained it. "Bad." He coughed.

"...Just laugh, Seth." Connor said flatly, looking up at him, with a "FML, I hate you" kinda face as he narrowed his eyes a little more.

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth said, "Okay" and doubled over, laughing his head off while Connor glared all the while. He finally straightened and went over to sit beside Connor, slinging an arm around him. "Okay, I know what you should do." His smile was devilish.

"...Oh god." Connor reached up, rubbing at his face before looking at Seth. "Last time I followed your idea, it led me to this."

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth snorted. "Beer pong does not make you hook up. Unless you lose," he added. And then he patted Connor's shoulder. "No, buddy, she gave you the worst, motherfucking heart attack a guy could get, didn't she?"

Evelyn exited the elevator with Jake, stepping out onto the lobby floor in a fouler mood than she'd had going in. He was unfortunately going the same way - or so he claimed. She didn't really care at that point. Their ride down had gone something like this:

Her: *after steaming silently for too long* I want to go shopping. Carry my bags for me.
Him: *unrelenting* That happened ONCE before. Not again. *reverts back to asshole*
Her: *wide-eyed look*
Him: *ignores*
Her: *crestfallen look*
Him: *ignores*
Her: *finally losing control of her bad mood* Fine.

She'd socked him in the jaw. Again.

He hadn't brushed it off as easily this time. In fact, he'd snapped. She couldn't really remember what he'd said, something about how she preached feminism and shit, and couldn't she do something for herself?

Evelyn resisted from pointing out that she simply needed muscle power, something she unfortunately didn't have regardless of how many times she "preached".

She crossed her arms over her striped top, feeling murderous and not quite in that mood to shop. But then James' voice floated into her head again.

Hadn't he taunted her with exactly what she was doing? Pushing people away so no one would stay. She was being a cold bitch again. It had nearly cost her Alexis' friendship. And while she doubted she and Jake could be categorized as "friends", he had still been pretty decent.

Even if he had set fire to, and burned to ashes, her reputation in James' eyes. But she'd let him and gone along with it.

Because until James moved on, she wasn't going to be able to. Until that last hope that something would work out had been stomped out, she was going to go round in circles about him. And James didn't need this whole disastrous cycle. If loathing her like he did now was what he needed to get over her, she'd give it to him. And pray it worked for her too.

But in the meantime, Jake wasn't the one causing her severe emotional bipolarity. If she wanted a fresh start, she was going to have to give herself an attitude redo. And swallow her pride where needed.

Evelyn stopped walking abruptly. He was two feet behind her and she turned, hoping he wouldn't run her over. Before he could swerve in another direction, she reached out and caught hold of his arms to hold him still. "Wait."

Jake halted, he really didn't feel like talking to Evelyn at the moment, but it nagged at him since he was kind of responsible for this whole "ruining her life" stint.

He looked down at her and sighed, "What now?"

Evelyn froze up for a moment - this wasn't a usual thing for her, after all. But she wanted to prove to herself that what James had said to her was something she'd learned.

She swallowed - both literally and figuratively (her pride) - and managed to say, "I'm sorry. That was out of line - even though you were going all bipolar on me again," she interjected, unable to resist, "but I was taking out my anger on James at the wrong person."

Before Jake died of a heart attack in shock, she added, "And, thanks, for um..." She let go of him and shrugged, feeling her cheeks redden. "You know?"

No wonder she didn't apologize often. It was damned embarrassment and put her in the most vulnerable position.

Jake didn't almost believe that she was apologizing to him, until she added something about him being bi polar did he kind of roll his eyes as she showed some of her old self again.

"Its okay, I get it." He still felt kind of bad now for insulting her and although he hated this more than anything he thought the least he could do was make it up to her.

He bit down on his lip and realized he was probably going to regret this later but he had no choice, "Listen if you still want, we can go shopping and hell I'll even buy you a hat or something or whatever the hell it is you chicks like."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn bit her lip to stifle a smile, surprised. How was one person a jerk and a sweetheart at the same time? Why couldn't he stay this nice permanently, like Luke used to be? It'd make their screwed up relationship way easier.

But then, it probably wouldn't be as much fun taunting him.

She almost said yes but then decided, since he was making an effort and she could tell by his eyes that this was his worst nightmare, that she would meet him halfway.

She gave a brief smile. "You know what, if I went shopping right now, it'd be shredded jeans, steel-toed boots and fishnets I'd buy. My mood's kinda dark. So I think I'll hold off on that. But thanks for offering. You can stop trembling now."

"Yes!" Connor slightly whined, rubbing at his head. "The damn bitch..."

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth nodded vigorously, demonic mind working. "She almost put you in the damn hospital. No guy should have to go through that trauma. She hit you low, didn't she?"

[JulietsCurse]

"Yes.." Connor eye'd him suspiciously. "What are you thinkin' up, Blondie?"

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth smirked and stood up. "Payback, buddy. Serious payback." He grinned. "But it'll be harmless. She's a girl, we can't exactly do a lot."

"Dude.. Explain." Connor said, standing up also as he ruffled his hair and frowned towards Seth.

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth grinned and lowered his voice instinctively, because the walls were thin and who knew who was listening in, as he told Connor his idea.

"...Dude." Connor spoke up when he finished and grinned widely. "You are a fucking genius!"

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth made him a mock bow, just the tilt of his silvery-blond head. His grin spread as he laughed. "This will be fucking epic. But she'll hate you forever after this. If there's one thing a girl might hate as much as a guy, it's this."

"She deserves it dude. How would YOU feel if you woke up to that, hungover as shit?" Connor asked, crossing his arms with an raise of his eyebrow.

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth zipped up his hoodie partway. "Let's go get what we need then. I know where that guy is right now."

Connor nodded and pulled on a shirt as he only had his jeans on at the time and slipped on his nikes before grabbing his sunglasses and leather jacket. "Lead the way."
