"No, it isn't that." Evelyn looked up at the starless night sky. Starless only because Manhattan was brightly lit.

She sighed slowly, letting her hair flutter around her breath. She dropped her head. Alexis' words reminded her of Brett and it disconfited her.

"Maybe he, um.....I dunno, Lex, maybe he doesn't want to be just friends? He thinks you're stopping him or something stupid like that?"

Alexis just stared at her, running her tongue over her lips in frustration. "Okay- you know what? Go shopping with Trevor. It's not like I'D know anything about creepers or stalkers."Alexis said bluntly, sounding slightly hurt that Evelyn wouldn't really believe her as she turned on her heel. "I'll see you back at the dorm."She said before walking away, down the street.

Evelyn's jaw dropped. "Alexis!" she called after her in frustration. "Aw, come on, we're celebrating tonight. I'm not gonna go off with some virtual stranger!"

Alexis gave her a brief wave with two fingers as she walked away down the street, mumbling ventage to herself quietly.

Trevor stepped out of the shop, raising an eyebrow at Evelyn.

Evelyn expelled an annoyed breaht. Her short temper was coming back. ALexis hadn't even given her a reason to be all wary.

But Alexis knows the signs, her brain told her. Evelyn bit her lower lip, shoulders sagging. She decided she'd buy Alexis a sweet treat or something to lighten her mood.

She turned back toward Tim's - and collided with Trevor.

"Merde!" Evelyn stumbled back, rubbing her nose where it had hit his chin.

"Ah- whoa, are you okay?"Trevor asked as he lowered his eyes just a bit to look at Evelyn.

Alexis picked at her latte cup out of frustration, before finishing the drink and dumping it into a trash can, stuffing her hands in her pockets. So much for a good mood. She may have been told she had issues, or problems, but she knew one thing for sure and that was that she wasn't paranoid. She knew the signs, thanks to her "friend" Joshua, and many things before hand.

Evelyn's eyes watered and she wiped at them. Damn nerve cells. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm all right. Sorry about that. I was going to go back in, get my friend something nice to eat. She's kind of pissed...." Evelyn trailed off, realizing she was blabbing.

"Your dark haired friend that seems to glare at me all the time when we're talking?"Trevor asked, frowning a little.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn blinked, feeling defensive. "She's cautious." Her voice was neutral.

"She seems rather rude really."Trevor said calmly with a head tilt. "She never talks- and when she does it's something sarcastic, and she keeps giving me looks like I've done something wrong when I clearly haven't seen this is only the 2nd time I've talked to you. Does she had some sort of illness? Bipolar maybe?"

Evelyn blinked and reminded herself she was a new Evelyn. The kind that did not go around punching people like she had Dov Daniels last years.

"She's cautious. She doesn't know you. And, she's kind of reserved," Evelyn answered simply. She stepped around Trevor. "Um, I'll see you around."

Trevor grabbed her arm, gently but firm enough to hold her there. "Wait- I didn't come out here to rant about how much I dislike your friend, I want to ask you something."

[Tiger-Lily]

"After you rant about how much you dislike my friend?" Evelyn replied sharply, pulling free. Her mood was ruffled now, no longer quite as carefree. "What could you possibly ask me?"

[JulietsCurse]

"Er..."Trevor swallowed, cringing before letting out a breath. "I apologize. I stepped out of line."He said, lowering his gaze to his hands as he fiddled with his cup a little.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn softened. There went that temper. She'd thought she kept it reigned in pretty well. "What did you want?" she asked calmly.

"I wanted to ask if I could have your number or something of the sort. So, I could stay in better contact with you, instead of having a one in a million chance of seeing you again, like we did tonight."Trevor said, looking back up at her.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn paused, Alexis' warning echoing in her head. She made a decision. "Give me yours instead," she said.

"Ah, um.. alright."Trevor nodded slightly, with a smile. "That'll work."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn typed his number into her phone and then said, "Well, I'll see you around." She sidestepped him and went back into the cafe.

She ordered a Chocolate Danish. After putting it into her purse, she stepped back outside.

THw wind was picking up. Evelyn drew her jacket aorund herself, feeling flecks of rain sprinkle her cheeks. She shivered, wondering if the predicted storm was coming through after all.

There were less people on this part of the stret. Mindful of the fact that she was no longer is sleepy Ash Creek, Evelyn cast a careful glance around herself at the silent buildings. Today was Monday night. What sane person would be out on a Monday night anyways.

But New York was hardly still. That didn't mean the stillness was caused by people she wanted to mingle with.

A group of older boys, probably in their late twenties, leered at her as she crossed the street to head for the subway. She clenched her hands together and attempted to keep her calm face on, wishing Alexis had stayed.

Alexis managed to find a bench on the street and sat down, trying to blur out all the noises. She rubbed her bottom of her hands against the side of her head, trying to rid of her sudden pounding headache.

[[From the dorms]]

Jacob walked down the street and he could feel the beginning drops of a storm, approaching. He started to think that maybe he should have waited for the weather to be slightly better. Not that he cared too much about walking around at night, he grew up in New York, so he was used to people being weird.

Although he hated that the minute he needed a break from his formerly blond friend, that it decided to pour rain on him, Jake ran inside the Tim Hortons and ordered himself a black coffee.

After paying the girl, he thought he would wait out the rain, but it was late and he had class the next day, since he already skipped a day, and he was sure his parents didn't want to hear about him failing out of college his first semester, he pulled took a sip of the warm beverage and headed out into the rain, he was going to pull his hood up, but it was raining so hard, within the last couple of minutes he just decided against it, the rain soaking him.

He thought about more, what he was going to do and it kind of scared the crap out of him, although he didn't mind talking to people that much he hated when he had to get up in front of classes and give speeches and what not. No doubt he could get in the ring and knock someone out , or take them down in rugby, but speaking.

He shivered, mostly because it was raining, but also because he was not looking forward to having to do this.

Jacob spotted some guys hanging out in the mouths of alleys some talking or leering at other people walking past, if there was one reason he hated about New York was all the freaks came out after nine.

Jacob shot them a glare and continued his walk to the subway, and drinking his coffee.
