"It's a cat, Jake, I doubt he cares what you say," Evelyn pointed out.

Lucifer hissed, a long, drawn-out, snake-like warning. Nova backed up a step. Evelyn scooped him up.

Then Lucifer dove forward - under Jake's legs and slashed his ankle with a paw. In the blink of an eye, he was halfway down the hallway to Evelyn's open dorm-room.

"What...the...hell?" Evelyn managed to say.

"Son of a bitch!" Jake flinched, hopping on one foot towards Evelyn's room after Lucifer. "Come on!" He called to her as he hobbled into her room.

[Tiger-Lily]

"No, wait!" she said, grabbing his arm before he could get further. "He's leaving! Let him leave - I do not want battle royale in my damn room!"

There was a long, mocking meow from Evelyn's dorm room. She looked through her doorway after a moment to see Lucifer's tail disappear out the window.

Jake stopped when he heard Lucifer leave he sighed in relief. He really didn't feel like fighting that stupid cat today. He looked down at his ankle it wasn't too bad but he did draw a little blood. "Little bastard nicked me. Oh well, not like I'm not used to it." Jake shrugged.

[Tiger-Lily]

"You're really rooming with Seth next year?" Evelyn asked in disbelief, heading to the bathroom to wet a piece of toilet paper. She brought it out and handed it to him. "And I feel sorry for whoever rooms with you guys and that demon cat. Is he coming along next year too?"

[Guest]

"God I hope not." Jake said bending down to pat the tissue around his scratch. "I mean I dunno if we can live in a place of our own then I don't see why Seth wouldn't bring him, but despite all the idiocy its fun rooming with Seth."

[Tiger-Lily]

"But Seht said it wasn't his cat," Evelyn recalled vaguely. She walked over to Jake. "Ankle okay, hero?" she asked with a slight grin.

"I'll survive." Jake grinned, taking the tissue and tossing it in Evelyn's wastebasket. He went to sit on her chair in her room, looking up at her. "Okay now that the whole me saving your life is now over, we can get on with serious matters I guess."

[Tiger-Lily]

"How will I ever repay you?" she asked dryly, taking a seat on her bed, back against the wall.

"Okay, serious matters - again." She sighed, raking her fingers through her unruly hair. "Um..." Nova waddled into the room and jumped up onto her bed, padding over her outstretched legs and sitting down on her pillow.

Evelyn's eyes followed him. "What exactly are we supposed to talk about?"

[Guest]

"Uhh how we're..." Jake stopped in the middle of his sentence when he felt his phone vibrating. He took it out and read the message out loud. "Evelyn Irene Mathesson has sent you a friend request." Jacob looked back up at her.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn, who had her own phone in hand to text back to Carrie, looked up and gave him a sheepish smile. "Well, I figured I didn't currently hate you so..." She shrugged. "I have no doubt you'll say or do something to make me unfriend you again."

[Guest]

"You should be banned from using that button, you abuse it. If anyone gets to defriend someone next time its gonna be me." Jake said, accepting her friend request and sticking his phone back into his pocket.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn simply gave him an impish smirk. "Whatever," she sia dmockingly. She shook her head. "Um, okay, so focusi - "

Nova fidgeted and then shot to the floor, barking as he ran to the window. He poked his nose out anxiously, sniffing.

Evelyn's eyes grew wide. "Um...before we progress, you should know Nova has hit puberty in dog-years." She cleared her throat. "I took him to the vet's for an appointment, just a check-up and the vet told me around six or seven months is when...He uh...has been wanting to go out more...and um, there's a female dog some girl owns in one of the houses nearby..." She shifted in her seat, amusement flickering into her smile.

Jake's mouth dropped he got up and walked over to the window giving Nova a hug. "MY SON IS A MAN OH MY GOD!!!" He was having a proud dad moment right now.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn smacked a hand over her forehead. "This is easy for you because you're not the one pulling him off other people's dogs!" she exclaimed indignantly. Nova yipped happily at Jake and drooled on his nose.

[Guest]

"Oh my god! I think I might cry! I can't believe it, he's growing up so fast." Jake said wiping the drool from his nose he gave Nova good pet on the head.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn had to stifle a sudden laugh. "Yeah, he's turning out to be as much of a bastard as you," she informed Jake nicely. "And you know what, I don't appreciate having to handle something I don't consider fun all by myself. Part of our acquaintance deal should've included you taking him for the weekends!"

[Guest]

"Of course I'll take him out on the weekends! I'll take him to go meet chicks!" Jake said excitedly scratching Nova's ears. "He'll be a great wingman!"

[Tiger-Lily]

"And if he gets some poor dog preggo, her owner can blame it on you," Evelyn replied coolly, sliding off her bed and taking the desk chair that Jake had abandoned. She logged in to her laptop swiftly and then went to her Facebook page, where a friend from Seattle was online.

Nova yipped at this comment, wriggling in Jake's grip and landing on the floor impatiently. He braced his front paws on the windowsill and whined.

Jake pet him again and went to go sit on Evelyn's bed. "So before I was over swept with joy, as I was saying. We kind of need to figure out how we'll be around each other I guess. Learn to not be so sensitive about things that are said."

[Tiger-Lily]

"I'm not..." Evelyn paused. She threw up her hands. "Why are we making this so complex? Let's just call it friends and end the whole mystery?" She eyed Jake meaningfully. "Really friends, I mean. As in, you don't beat the crap out of guys I might possibly date or be dating in the park."

[Guest]

Jacob was posting something on Evelyn's wall, laying on her bed. "Because we try the whole lets be friends thing and make it simple. But the second you even think you see me you're on the next flight to Siberia." Jake said bluntly. "But as far as beating up your dates, I'll only beat up the guys I don't like."

[Tiger-Lily]

"Which will be all of them," Evelyn added, narrowing her eyes. "I already have the shitty rep - that girl with the psycho ex on a horse leaping over potential boyfriends."

[Guest]

Jake grinned mischievously. "Damn that was fun, now I know I broke something of his. Although now since I've done that I have no idea how I'll top myself."

[Tiger-Lily]

"Drive a car next time, or a motorbike," she snapped irritably. It might be amusing to Jake, but from her angle, he'd pretty much destroyed her whole night. "Then you can kill me too and put me out of my misery!"
