"Look, I'm not holding that against you any longer," Evelyn said softly, tugging at the door and opening it regardless of his hand on it. "I'm just being realistic. I can't expect you to be someone you're not." She hitched her bag up on her shoulder, looking away.

"But I'm not being someone I don't want to be. Since I've been with you, I've been nothing but myself. Granted myself isn't that great but I've been me around you because like you said to me I didn't have to try and be this person that everyone makes me out to be." Jake said grabbing her hand for anything, any sign that maybe she might say or do something instead of walking away.

Evelyn bit her lip, staring down at her hand in his for a moment before licking her dry lips and glancing up at him. She wanted to believe him, but part of her, the part most bruised by the whole ordeal with James, was putting up its walls, unable to believe what Jake was saying.

She wanted to believe him, so badly, but she didn't want to delude herself into hoping it'd all go smoothly just like that. He couldn't just change, no matter what he said! There would always be that part of him that wanted more than she could give.

"It's not like we would have worked out. Luke and Ashlee would stab you in your sleep if they found out I was hanging around you," she pointed out logically. That odd draining sensation began again, like she had a weird black hole somewhere in her body that was constantly sucking all the energy out of her. Evelyn leaned her head against the door, looking up at Jake slightly wearily. This was back to the old argument again.

"Why? Why do we keep doing this? We're just going in circles with this! Listen, I know! I know that they would kill me if I was with you, and I know so many people hate it but I really don't care! I'm not saying things are gonna be perfect but you gotta work at stuff for them to be better. I feel like we hardly gave ourselves a chance at all before we just let it all fall apart. I feel like we keep finding excuses, and I don't want to anymore, I just want to be real, for once." Jake said he bit his lip and just searched for something in her tired eyes.

He noticed that she seemed tired again, they had only slept a few hours but he thought that maybe it would have helped her at least a little, "You okay? You seem sick again."

[Tiger-Lily]

"I'm fine," Evelyn said stubbornly, not wanting to lose focus. She looked down at her feet. "Look, I....I can't just disregard everything that my friends say, you know? That would seem ungrateful because they're only saying this because they care. Just bluntly ignoring their words isn't something I'm okay with."

She heaved a breath and finally looked up at him, letting the door swing closed reluctantly. "It won't happen immediately. I'd...I mean, I guess they'd need to see who you really are, not that alleged evil creep side of you. And if they still don't like you, or aren't okay with me being around you, then we'll have a problem." She didn't know how this wold work out though.

Luke, she felt, was most definitely going to resent Jake for James' sake. Ashlee was touchy about physically abusive relationships.

Jake crossed his arms over his chest, "I know, I know. I shouldn't expect you to. You're right they're you're friends and I would be the same way, I mean I wouldn't want my friends getting hurt or hanging around with someone I didn't trust either. I just feel like I have no chance you know? Luke automatically hates me cause of James being his best friend and Ashlee thinks I'm gonna beat you with a baseball bat when no one is looking. "

Evelyn had to suppress a sudden urge to smile. "Well you did tell me you'd love to shove my head down a garbage chute with a baseball bat," she pointed out, leaning her shoulder against the door and rubbing at her eyes slowly.

Jake stifled a smile and went on to say in a serious tone, "Hey I don't say that to anyone. Consider yourself special."

[Tiger-Lily]

"And I don't often beat people up with my designer bags in broad daylight. Consider that an honor," Evelyn retorted, annoyed as she straightened and kicked his shin.

Jake winced and hobbled a little closer to Evelyn, pinching her cheeks hard, "Aren't you just the cutest wittle thing when you're all huffy?" He said cracking a grin.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn glared at him, enraged. She grabbed his wrists and tugged to get him to let go of her reddening cheeks. "OH, yes, I'm just this sweet."

She brought her knee up into his stomach hard.

Jake groaned doubling over, blinking back stinging tears in his eyes. Damn girl! Jacob gripped onto Evelyn's wrists, as support he fell onto his knees and he turned her arm over and bit down on her wrist.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Ow!" she yelped, more shocked than hurt. Evelyn tugged her arm back hastily and smacked her bag on Jake's head so he'd let go. "If you're gonna morph into a glittery marble sculpture, I will have to crack your skull."

Jake rose up slowly and just stared down at Evelyn, "Screw that gay stuff. I prefer Dracula, and all those other guys over that idiot. Hence why I wasn't afraid to bite you." Jake waggled his eyebrows at her, to ignore his aching head.

"Geez always the head with you huh?" He rubbed his head, "Well to get you back for that I'll attack in true vampire fashion." Jake tipped his head moving back her hair and bit Evelyn's neck.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn caught her breath, hating how her body reacted instantly to his proximity, a pleasant shudder going through her. But the vampire biting thing was getting to her. She blamed today's damn cultural fads.

Evelyn reached her arm around and pinched Jake's forearm hard, where his cross tattoo was. "C'mon, do cross tattoos not work?" she demanded, shoving his head away hastily and backing away.

"Owww! No! Don't do that!" Jake whined yanking his arm back, he lifted his t-shirt sleeve looking at his tattoo, not that she really could have done too much to it. Jake tilted his head though, "Hmmm I think I need to get it re-touched though. What do you think?" Jake showed it to her.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Didn't you want to get it retouched way back in like, September?" Evelyn asked vaguely, reaching out and running light fingers over the cross design. She smirked. "You hypocrite. I'm surprised your pastor doesn't burn your whole arm off when you go to church."

[Guest]

Jake shrugged, his skin seemed to tingle as her fingers ran down his arm. "Actually he thinks its pretty sweet. Hey do you wanna come with me? Its fun. And if you want one I can get you a good deal! Guy is a major pro." Jake grinned excitedly, he had the money saved for it and he loved going to watch other people get tattoos.

[Tiger-Lily]

"What, get a tramp stamp?" she asked with a grin, lowering her hand back to her bag with raised eyebrows. She could just imagine the look on Luke and her aunt's face if she got a tattoo. She didn't know if Carrie and Ashlee would find it bad, but they'd definitely think it odd. "And there's nothing I'd really want permanently engraved on myself. Getting it off would be a hassle."

Jake snickered, the last thing he could ever imagine was Evelyn getting was a damned tramp stamp, "Nah that's not classy. You don't have to get one on your lower back. It would be fun, come on you mean to tell me there isn't anything worth it? Its fun too! I loved getting a tattoo, its not nearly as bad as people make it out to be."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn shrugged noncommittally. She'd kind of considered getting one once, but there really was nothing she could think of that deserved being engraved on her body forever.

Unless it was related to her parents, but she didn't feel like getting a tattoo for deceased parents was anything beyond cheesy. "I did want one once, but what on earth would I even get?" she asked, leaning back against the wall.

"Well its gotta be something that has meaning for you. Because I really hate those girls who just go and get butterfly and fairy tattoos. That's stupid. Lola has the karma symbol on her side." Jake pointed out, "I like that, man I was with her for that one. Side tattoos hurt by the way." Jake said pointing to his side. "I was going to get one there but haven't figured out what I wanted yet, and I'll admit when I got my cross tattoo I was a bit more better about being religious than I am now." He snorted.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn shrugged. "Honestly, I can't fathom getting a big tattoo. It'd have to be something small that didn't show up in every thing I wore, like those huge dragon tattoos all over people's backs." She shrugged and straightened. "I'll think about it. I gotta get going. I've left Nova on his own and Lex is studying."

"True, hey but think about it it would be fun. Alright fine I think I've kept you long enough." Jake grinned holding his door open for Evelyn .

Evelyn absently wondered if it was an image she'd want, or maybe a few words. She flashed Jake a half-smile and stepped past him into the hallway. "Sorry if I make you eat leftovers," she added guiltily, glancing over her shoulder.
