"Let's just, um..." Evelyn was finding it difficult to look at him. "Let's just forget about this topic and um, move on..." She cleared her throat uncomfortably, feeling the air in the room suddenly get a little awkwardly charged.

Jacob nodded relieved for the change in topics. He let out a small huff, and reached into his jean pocket and pulled out a cigarette. "Do you mind if I smoke?" He asked her, reaching for his lighter in his other pocket.

[Tiger-Lily]

She stared at him. "Um, yes, I actually do! Why do you have to smoke right now?"

[Guest]

"Helps me relax, don't worry I don't smoke all the time. I've had the same pack for almost a year now if that's any indication to you. Plus tonight has been kind of odd, but I'll put them away." Jake said sticking the cigarette he had pulled out behind his ear.

"Have you ever smoked before?" Jake asked her.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Just once," she said. "It was it front of you, um...the...the day we, um, went to look for Brett." She shrugged. "If you want to smoke that, lean out the window."

[Guest]

"Oh yeah, that's right you did. You like hacked a lung or something." Jake said sticking the cigarette in his mouth he opened the window leaning out he lit it up and took a drag from it.

[Tiger-Lily]

"I did not!" Evelyn protested, shifting Nova's head off her lap. She got up off her bed carefully while he snuffled in his sleep. "I handled it better than most people owuld their first time. You probably cried the first time you smoked, Sal."

She shifted on her feet as a wind blew into the room, carrying Jake's horrible smoke inside. Evleyn coughed and walked over to the window, standing behind Jake so she was out of smoke range.

Jacob blew smoke rings out of his mouth, ashing the cigarette on the ledge he snorted. "I didn't cry, I burned my throat though. I smoked for the first time in my room and I heard my dad coming up the stairs and freaked out and kind of swallowed it."

He laughed remembering that. "After I got it out of my throat, my dad grounded me and hit me, it was hilarious."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn's hand flew to her throat and she shivered slightly in his jacket as the wind teased her hair. She looked up at Jake. "You swallowed it? Didn't that burn your whole throat? And i can somehow see you doing something that ridiculous."

[Guest]

"Why do you think I have such a shitty singing voice?" Jake said blowing out a puff of smoke. He took the cigarette putting it out on the ledge and flicked it off his hand.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn waved a hand in front of her face, coughing. "Ew." Jake smelled like an ash tray. She didn't understand how girls found smoking or its smell attractive. Scrunching up her nose, she coughed again. "I was more expecting you to set your curtains alight, though."

[Guest]

"Uh I did that too! Although that was accidental. Not that I ever choke on purpose." Jacob said looking in his pocket he found to his surprise a stick of gum, it was his lucky day!

Jacob popped the gum in his mouth, turning to face Evelyn he played with his lighter lighting it and putting it out. "Its fun to experience these things for yourself, something to tell the grand kids."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn reached over and grabbed at the lighter. "Give me that!" she exclaimed. Jake's long jacket sleeves got in her way, and when his finger sparked the lighter, the flame almost caught onto the leather.

[Guest]

"Hey that's mine! And watch the leather chicka!" Jake whined.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn grabbed Jake's fingers, prying them open so she could use her other hand to take his lighter. "And your pyro, criminal butt is going to Nero my room!" Her fingers tingled with a too-familiar spark, a warning she was in too close proximity to Jake, but she really didn't feel like having to pay fire damages.

[Guest]

"Hey! I am a fiery Latin man! What do you expect?" Jake retorted, attempting to retrieve his lighter back from Evelyn.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn pulled her hands sideways sharply, dodging Jake. "Um, don't give me reason to toss this out the window!"

[Guest]

"Fine go ahead, its not like I don't have another lighter. I have no attachments to it whatsoever." Jake said flicking Evelyn's head.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn dropped the lighter onto her floor. her hand flew up to massage her forehead. Almost subconsciously, she moved back a few steps so she was out of his arm reach, a funny tightening in her stomach.

So maybe she still wasn't over that. Her breathing came out a little heavily and she swallowed. "Well, considering the goal was to stop you setting my room aflame, throwing out one would give me time to lock you out while you went to get another."

[Guest]

Jacob scoffed. "Red I am offended. I am not that heavy of a smoker that I would actually go look for another lighter." Jake yawned, he wondered what time it was. He pulled out his phone to see it was nearly four in the morning.

"Jesus, its nearly dawn. I think I really should get going for real this time." Jacob chuckled. Since he knew that anytime either of them tried to leave they always ended up spending even more time with the other.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn nodded, relaxing slightly and feeling stupid for stilt being uptight. She wondered if she'd ever stop feeling her body stiffen nervously whenever Jake was around her, not in a good way either.

She hated this whole thing. Even though it was over, it was still strong and terribly there inside of her. And it wasn't going away that easily.

She cleared her dry throat, knelt and picked up his lighter, holding it out to him with her old, fake smile. "Here, go set somebody else's room aflame."

[Guest]

Jacob gave her a smile, taking his lighter from her. His fingertips just touching hers and he could feel his skin still tingle whenever he touched her. This wasn't gonna be easy, he knew that. But he wanted to try.

"Not now, I'm tired. Maybe when I wake up I guess." Jake told Evelyn turning to the window he lifted it up so he could climb back out.

Jake stood on the ledge looking in on Evelyn. His breath caught in his throat and he just sighed. "Goodnight, Red--Evelyn." Jacob corrected himself, he knew he had called Evelyn that earlier but wasn't entirely sure if she was okay with it.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Night," she replied quietly, moving forward so she was on the other side of the window frame, but decided for the sake of politeness, she'd wait till he left before she slammed her window shut.

[Guest]

Jacob turned and walked across the ledge heading back to his room, he climbed in through his open window. Once setting foot inside he closed the window pulling the blinds down, he changed out of his clothes and got into bed, he turned over yawning and fell asleep.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn slid her window closed after Jake entered his own, and drew her blinds, turning away.

And then realized she was in Jake's jacket! Oh shit!

She'd give it to him tomorrow, she figured. He'd probably come by himself anyway, since this was his prized jacket. She pulled it off now that the window was shut and the room warmer. She slung the jacket over the back of her desk chair and crawled back into bed, wiping the last of her mascara off with a tissue and dropping it to the floor before her head hit the pillow beside Nova.
