Evelyn glanced up at Jake, biting her lip to hide her grin. "Canada? I have family there, now that I think about it, and they have a shitload of dogs... " Her green eyes flashed devilishly. "What would you do if I did?"

"I'd hunt down your family and get the dog back, and well I know where you live I'd just kill you." Jake grinned.

"Um yeah... long story short. We thought someone was getting murdered across the hall, um creepy clown music, a four year olds voice, and some cheesy horror movie scream later. I was skunked and mine and Luke's heads were almost mounted over that guys cheap fireplace. Oh and we live Midtown but our building is kind of sketchy." James added laughing, thinking back on his first few days at the apartment.

One of the few reasons he didn't entirely regret coming to the Big Apple.

"And you haven't looked else where to live?" Alexis asked, finding that unbelievable that James and him hadn't gone to move the hell outta there yet. "Sounds like some cheesy college-made horror movie."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn nudged Jake with her elbow, conveniently located by his side as it was. "I'm too pretty to kill," she informed him deadpan. She batted her lashes at him. "Seriously, isn't this whole dust-in-my-eye bullshit totally a turn on?"

James laughed out loud thinking back on that, now it all seemed so funny to him although at the time it was slightly funny, now it was just hilarious.

"No the place has... charm." He snorted, "Oh you think that's bad the furniture in our place is so cheap, I mean okay yeah I punched Luke in the jaw, but seriously even if I lightly tapped him into that table it would have broke. The thing is being supported by like cardboard or something." James found himself laughing a bit harder now, their apartment was a real crap hole.

"Right, sure. Keep feeding yourself that lie. Oh and what dust-in-my-eye crap are you even talking about?" Jake asked her raising an eyebrow.

"You guys should have just called before hand and dormed. Though- so far their nut cases aren't any better." Alexis smirked, half thinking of Seth and Jake.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn feigned offense. "Like you weren't hitting on me last night, huh?" she asked amusedly. She stopped walking and tugged Jake's arm so he'd lean down and then raised herself on her tip-toes to whisper confidentially in his ear. "It's okay, I won't tell Seth you think I'm hot." She stifled a laugh.

"We were going to, but we thought this whole apartment thing would be more entertaining and so far it has proven to be. Crappy furniture, skunks, shot guns, and a demon spider? I couldn't ask for anything better." James smirked.

Jake scowled, "First off I didn't know it was you, second of all if I did I would have gagged, and third of all I blame tequila for every terrible decision I've made in my life." He listed off to Evelyn.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn grinned. She was definitely not telling Jake about that video. "Whatever you say, boy." She pulled her arm free from his and resumed walking, smirking at him over her shoulder. "Denial, Sal."

"Demon spider? Wuss..." Alexis teased lightly, smiling some as she watched Frankie bark and attempt to run off in front of them.

"Dude it was freaking huge it was--" Before he could finish his statement Frankie had practically dragged him across campus, the dog barking and running.

"Frankie, heel!" James shouted at the dog, as he approached a couple walking, the dog barked pawing up at the girl and James tugged on his collar.

"Frankie, down boy! I'm sorry I didn't mean to--" He looked up at them quickly as he tried to calm him down, and he stopped.

This has to be a joke...

He brought his eyes up slowly, meeting the familiar emerald green ones that he had just insulted a little over an hour ago, and James suddenly felt nauseous.

Alexis quickly caught up to James' side and tensed a bit. ...Well. Shit. She cringed, shuffling her feet a little.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn's joyful expression faded instantly as she stopped walking. Jake caught up with her again.

Frankie pawed her leg playfully as his dogwalker wasn't paying much attention.

FML doesn't even begin to describe this, Evelyn thought desperately. She lifted her gaze and caught James' eyes reluctantly. Guilt instantly tore through her again and she looked away, unable to keep up the staring match.

A familiar iron fist was crushing her heart again. Evelyn drew a blank, unable to think of a single thing to say except -

"Alexis?" She felt the dread in her stomach deepen. Automatically, she stepped backwards just a bit so she was partially behind Jake.

"Evelyn..." Alexis half frowned, pulling her bag closer slightly, and helped pull Frankie back by his collar.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn swallowed and threw a glance at Jake. She was thinking maybe she should have filled him in. But she'd thought she'd have some time...

"What, um..." She licked her lips, feeling her throat go dry. "What are you doing here?" She was looking firmly at Alexis as she reached up and caught Jake's hand.

Jake held on to Evelyn's hand not really sure what to expect this was super awkward, he nodded over at Alexis.

James looked at Evelyn and Jake, he remembered how Evelyn had liked that his phone was broken, it obviously meant she was relieved no one else had discovered about her little adventure with Jake.

"Out with the boyfriend whore? Or just taking a breather before round two and the DVD release party?" James blurted icily.

Alexis cringed, biting her bottom lip hard again as she adverted her glance to the ground. "Just hangin'." Alexis mumbled after James in reply to Evelyn, as she reached down, petting Frankie.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn felt her insides ache at that word. She'd been called a bitch so often but "prude" was more common from a guy's mouth than "whore".

She tried not to let on how shaken she was but the hand she was holding Jake's with was already quivering badly. She squeezed his fingers a little to gain control of herself before addressing Alexis like James wasn't there. "That is a bad idea of fun."

She didn't want to be here. She was going to seize the least-awkward moment to make a run for it. James' words were worse than a heated knife.

"It's better then your idea of fun, Evelyn." Alexis replied swiftly, giving her a look. "Don't start... you've done enough, friend or not. You've pushed it.."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn's breath caught in her chest and she inhaled, a sudden sharp wince. Her eyes involuntarily widened.

She glanced at James and then at Alexis. So Alexis had already decided.

She couldn't disagree. She didn't want James to know she wasn't a whore who slept with some guy she knew a week. She wanted James to loathe her. And to never want to be around her.

So she said the only thing she could say. "I guess you've made up your mind, Alexis." She didn't know if she should feel hurt that Alexis so willingly believed James over giving her the benefit of the doubt or if she should realize Alexis was never a trustworthy friend.

Then again, that video had been convincing in its ambiguity. But still...

Evelyn tugged at Jake's hand, looking up at him. Her insides had iced over. Her voice wobbled and she couldn't control it. She knew he'd read everything she wasn't able to say all over her face because her wall wasn't up. "We should get Nova. I have work later."

Jake almost punched James in the face, when he heard what he said. Yeah Evelyn wasn't exactly the nicest person in the world and what the hell? Weren't her and Alexis supposed to be friends?

"Yeah sure, lets go, Olivia is waiting for us." He said glaring at James one last time before turning away, as they walked away he looked down at her.

"You okay?" He asked.


James scowled clenching his fists as he watched them walk away, he ran his hands through his hair and looked at Alexis, "Ugh! Seriously? Does god really hate me that much?"

Alexis let out a shaky breath as she stared after Evelyn and Jake before looking at James. "....Apparently." She said in a sincere light tone, ignoring as Frankie whined after Evelyn. She tugged on his collar a little and he went quiet.

Evelyn wasn't okay. She had the crazy urge to yell it but she beat it down, fighting back the stinging tears that threatened to pool in her eyes. Hadn't she emptied her quote of tears today?

But she wasn't going to waste another breath talking about James. So she sucked it up and composed her voice.

"I'll be fine," she said, looking away so she could make up some semblance of a neutral expression. She stopped squeezing the life out of Jake's hand, loosening her grip so her fingers were barely linked with his. "Sorry."

Jake shook his hand out linking his hands together and cracking his knuckles, "No problem." He looked at her seeing that she looked like she wanted to cry again but was trying hard to keep that down.



James groaned and looked at Alexis, "I'm sorry, you shouldn't have had to seen that, its just..." He sighed he stared down at Frankie and continued to walk off campus, of course what was he thinking. She lived on campus he was bound to run into her.

Evelyn flinched, momentarily out of her gloom. She cast the tall Spaniard a death-glare. "Seriously? After you know how disgusting that sounds?"
