Carrie was still smiling and Evelyn put her phone down a moment, wary.

"In fact," Carrie smiled really wide and Evelyn began to feel somewhat afraid, "I was just texting Luke. He says he's gonna hit the pool. I asked him if we could come and he said yes. C'mon, grab your swimsuit and let's go."

Evelyn relaxed, but she felt confused. She'd been sure Carrie wanted to go "guy-shopping" - whatever that was.

"Okay," she said, getting up and heading to her suitcases to look for her one-piece.

Carrie smiled again and grabbed her own, heading for the bathroom to change.

Luke and James exited their room shortly after and headed upstairs to the indoor pool. Luke grinned as they entered the large hall, where a massive Olympian sized pool glistened under recessed lighting. "Whoa....this looks sweet!" The pool was fairly empty since most people were out touring the city.

"Wow, it is huge." James said taking in the pool. It was cool that they had the whole thing pretty much to themselves, he walked over to one of the empty chairs setting his towel down. As soon as he did that he went and jumped into the pool.

He came out from underneath running a hand through his wet hair. "Come on Giraffe!" He shouted at Luke.

Evelyn's chat with Jake wasn't really helping her mood any. She waited for Carrie to exit the bathroom and then went to change into her bathing suit, taking her phoen with her because Carrie, like Ashlee, knew no bounds.

Evelyn changed and then pulled on shorts and a green tank on top, before heading for her beach tote, into which she dumped her towel. She and Carrie pulled on their flipflops and headed out to the elevators, Evelyn snagging her phone at the last minute.

Luke smirked at James and walked along the pool to the diving tower, climbing up it to the highest level.

"LOOK OUT PRETTY BOY!"

Then he flipped himself off the edge, turning in a perfect 360 before plunging down nearly on top of James.

James yelped trying to swim away from Luke's dive and instead the blond collided into him sending them both underwater. James kicked away from Luke, going back up to the surface he gasped coughing up some of the water he swallowed.

"Luke you whale!" James said in between coughs.

Luke snorted and swam away. "Sorry, Ms. Fragile!" he called back, kicking water into James' face as he paddled away.

Evelyn's forehead was furrowed into a frown as she typed away on her phone on the ride up. Jake was being unusually bitter, she thought. Considering Jordan had always been fairly decent to Carrie and her on the few occasions she'd seen him, Evelyn thought Jake was being too hotheaded in this situation.

She was trying to work out what Jake's issue was with Carrie trying to set Evelyn up. COnsiderign Evelyn had made it clear it wouldn't work.

James pulled a face at Luke, turning over onto his back and floating around in the pool.

Jake's bad mood escalated the more he talked to Evelyn, he wasn't exactly sure why he was creating all this drama with Evelyn and saying things about James. But he knew the angrier he got the faster he drove. It just made him mad that if he was supposed to be Evelyn's friend that he had no say in things, like how her friends seemed to think it was okay to hook her up with a bunch of random idiots.

Or even worse how even though James could be a manipulative jerk, and yet all her dumb friends seemed to think it was okay to try and get them together.

Evelyn had asked Jake to pull over, usually he never texted in his car but he knew if he called her. He'd probably hear Carrie bitching in the background about it. He read her last message and told her to just go have fun with James and logged out of Facebook before she could reply, and sped on down the street.

Luke was swimming laps when Carrie and Evelyn arrived.

"Nice size," Carrie remarked cheerfully, heading for a set of lounge chairs where she put her bag down and pulled off her sundress. "Lyn, get off your phone!"

Evelyn looked up at her and put her iPhone in her tote, a frown between her eyebrows as she walked over.

While Carrie adjusted her bikini, Evelyn tried not to fume after her conversation with Jake. But it was really hard.

She gritted her teeth in frustration, having a mind to call the idiot and yell at him soundly, but he was driving and she didn't want him crashing.

But seriously, why was he so damn convinced James was interested? Even James wasn't that great an actor! And he did sound legitimately disgusted with her.

"Evelyn!" Carrie snapped her fingers under Evelyn's nose. Evelyn started and realized she was standing there musing like a moron while Carrie was seated at the pool edge, feet dipped in the water.

"Sorry," Evelyn mumbled, yanking off her tank and -

She froze, her eyes skipping past Carrie to where she could see Luke swimming laps. But that was expected.

What wasn't was the handsome brunet nearby. Evelyn wondered if it ws too late to just make a run for it and her stomach dropped in panic.

"C'mon!" Carrie said again.

"I..." Oh my God. Why is he here?! Oh my freaking God! Evelyn bit her lower lip and tugged off her shorts, determinedly not looking anywhere in James' direction. He hadn't sounded too pleased with her last they'd had contact. She wasn't really looking for an awkward confrontation.

"Carrie!" Luke paused to tread water, waving at them. He splashed James to get his attention. "Yo! We have female company!"

James closed his eyes when water splattered them, although upon hearing "female" visitors. He turned to swim towards Luke. Of course he should have known that meant Evelyn and Carrie.

Not that he didn't enjoy Carrie's presence, but right now he wasn't exactly Evelyn's biggest fan.

James swam over to them, and greeted Carrie. His blue eyes fell on Evelyn, noticing how she tried to avoid eye contact with him. "Hey Ev, where's the dog?" He asked.

Evelyn wondered if it would look rude if she pretended she hadn't heard James.

Except he was treading water about five feet from her.

She looked over at him, gnawing her lower lip. "Nova's asleep," she replied quietly, moving away to an empty bit of pool. She leaned forward and took a swan dive into the water, coming up to the surface a meter from James and his stupid blue eyes.

Carrie snorted. "Are you sure you meant that dog?" she joked, looking down at James.

"Who else would I mean?" James said cheekily, swimming over to Evelyn and splashing her. "Some people are just uptight I guess."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn choked on water and blinked confusedly at James, automatically swimming backwards to get away from his splashes. "Like you," she remarked bluntly, and Carrie narrowed her eyes over James' shoulder at her.

"Moi?" James said innocently widening his eyes, swimming back over to Evelyn. "I'm not the one giving you the cold shoulder am I?"

[Tiger-Lily]

"I'm not giving anyone the cold shoulder," Evelyn replied, treading water as she watched James near. Carrie had headed for the diving tower and Evelyn ducked underwater, swimming under James to rise up behind him. She jabbed her thumb at the back of his head, hard. "In fact, I should think I'm being perfectly friendly."

"Poking people is friendly for her, you gotta admit," Luke remarked to James, swimming past them.

James turned back around facing Evelyn he poked her hard in the forehead. "Oh yes poking is a very friendly gesture."

Evelyn stuck her tongue out because she couldn't think of a cutting-enough reply. She turned and swam leisurely toward the poolsire. "What would you like me to do, lay out a carpet of water-lilies, diva?" she called back to James, just as Carrie cannon-balled into the water about a foot away from her.

Evelyn shrieked as the current pulled her under and she ended up inhaling a lot of chlorine-filled water. She surfaced and choked, pulling a face. "Ewww!" Carrie snickered and paddled to the other ended of the pool. "Didn't mean to interrupt the friend-fest!"

James took a deep breath and ducked underwater, he opened his eyes squinting as the chlorine stung his eyes, although he could see through blurry vision a blurry Evelyn? Maybe, so he swam quickly towards her and yanked on her legs.

Evelyn had taken a deep inhale when she was once more yanked under. She flailed a moment and then kicked out, catching her foot on someone's hair. She twisted in the water and squinted down to see James holding her legs.

She kicked out a him and used her arms to pull herself back to the surface.

James came up quickly gasping, he shook his head rubbing his eyes. "Geez Ev, gotta kick me with your gazelle legs."

Evelyn cracked a half-grin/half-smirk at him over her shoulder. "Don't touch me." She dove underwater and resumed swimming, arms at her sides like a human missile, toward the diving tower.

"Ouch, that was a burn," Carrie remarked to James, swimming past him a la backstroke.

James narrowed his eyes at Carrie, and swam by her and dunked her head underwater. "I can't hear you underwater." James said smugly.

Evelyn grinned at this, as she pulled herself out of the pool, sitting with her feet in the water as she worked the hair tie out of her disgruntled locks. Five feet away, Carrie floundered and flailed anxiously, choking and spluttering.

"You know!" she gasped, blond hair plastered to her face as she surfaced, glaring at James. "You look a lot less attractive all of a sudden."

"Oh, don't tell him that," Evelyn remarked cuttingly. "He'll think it meant you wanted admission to his sex slave cult of Darko worship." Luke stifled his laughter as he watched from the second dive platform.

James flicked Evelyn off and looked back at Carrie. "All that blond hair is blinding you of my beauty."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn smirked at James, finally managing to pull her hair tie free so her hair fell in a messy cascade down one shoulder. She examined the distance between herself and James, wondering if she could snap her hair tie far enough to hit the brunet. Too far. She ran her fingers through her hair and glanced at her bag, where her not-buzzing iPhone lay.

She wasn't sure how long it'd take Jake to get home, probably an hour since she'd talked to him, she figured, plus an hour after that to settle in somewhat. In all honestly though, she guessed his bad-tempered ass might very well just hang up on her if she did call him. She figured she'd try anyway.

"After hearing about that cult?" Carrie stated flatly, pushing her hair out of her face, "I'd say my vision has only just been healed."

James just splashed Carrie in response and paddled over to Evelyn, "Hey Ev! Get out of your little dream cloud!" James yelled kicking his legs quickly, sending waves of water towards her.
