Alexis mentally cringed at that, and cleared her throat, nudging her guitar case by her seat. "Music. A lot of it."

"Damn, I've always wanted ot learn to play an instrument," Ashton said. "Have you checked out the music scene in Manhattan yet?"

"Um- no honestly. My uh, new york life hasn't been the best so I don't really go much of anywhere." Alexis admitted before gnawing at her inner cheek. "That sounded whiny." she said quietly with a sigh and looked back out the window.

[Tiger-Lily]

Ashton didn't think so, but then, he wasn't exactly the best at picking up verbal cues. "Well, you should check out the open mic-nights at coffeehouses. A lot of Music kids put on performances there. And they have poetry readings there too. It's all the same crowd - artists. They're pretty sweet."

"..Really?" Alexis seemed very interested now. "Do you know when they do that? I mean like..one of them at least.." Alexis asked.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Yeah, actually," he said. He'd heard someone talking about them...who had that been? It had been someone he sort of knew...Oh, James' friend. He snapped himself out of his funk. "There's one open-mic performance thing going down this Friday actually. Like, eveningish, at one of the little cafes down the street from here. I heard this guy mentioning it. It ends usually by eight so you have time for any New Year's Eve thing or whatever."

"Well um- there's my new years plans. Thanks." Alexis said gratefully. She didn't want to be home alone on new years... this year was bad enough... she didn't want to start the new one like that at least. Feelings wouldn't change but either way...

[Tiger-Lily]

"Aren't you guys doing anything?" Ashton asked, puzzled. "The music thing ends by evening so you'd have time for the countdown or whatever."

"Um..No.." Alexis replied quietly and played with her guitar pick, biting at her bottom lip and cleared her throat quickly. "Um- so- what are you plans?"

[Tiger-Lily]

"I don't know," he replied musingly, finishing his coffee and ignoring his vibrating phone. "I mean, normally we planned to do a trip or something, guys' thing, you know? But now Jake's in the hospital so....we can't leave him behind."

"Uh- party in the hospital room?" Alexis said, as light-hearted as she could sum up and played with her now empty cup of coffee.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Maybe," Ashton allowed, grinning. He eyed her curiously, wondering about the odd vibe she was giving off. "How come you weren't at the formal, Alexis?" he blurted out. H e hesitated. "I mean, I just noticed all your friends went and a girl like you can't have had trouble finding a date amid my sex-starved peers." He cracked a brief grin.."

Alexis tensed and slowly shrugged. "James asked me- I don't like James, at all. So I didn't actually have a date and just... not my thing." Alexis said smoothly, poking at her cup till it tipped over.

[Tiger-Lily]

Ashton reached over and grabbed the cup swiftly before it met the table. He sat it upright, eyes on Alexis. "Tripping in fancy heels and watching your friends fornicate in limos not your thing?"

"Uh- no." Alexis smirked and glanced at the cup. "It's empty." She commented, keeping eye-contact to a minimal.

[Tiger-Lily]

Ashton could look back on that and now find it funny. "Georgiana is hilarious, though. I've never seen anyone stand up to Seth and bullshit right back at him like she did!"

[JulietsCurse]

"That's Georgiana. She's more hood then Seth wishes he could be." Alexis replied with a slight amused tone to it and felt her headache coming on stronger, progressing painfully quickly into a small migraine.

[Tiger-Lily]

Ashton laughed. Ghetto Seth was both a nightmare and worth taping. Ashton quirked an eyebrow at Alexis mid-laugh. "You okay? You're showing the way-too-familiar symptoms of someone grinding their teeth in pain."

"That might be because I am. Stress migraine." Alexis spoke lowly, and put her head in her hands now.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Oooh," Ashton cringed. "Hell I can relate but...uh...if you don't mind me asking - stressed about what? It's break, Alexis," he said with a half-smile.

"...Life is stressful even without school, isn't it?" Alexis pointed out and glanced up, allowing a little eye contact.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Fair enough,"' Ashton allowed, feeling somewhat discomfited. He shifted in his seat and his phone buzzed insistingly again. He cringed. "Sorry, I should...just give me a second."

He pulled out his phone and checked his message from Seth: Need u 2 hack a window alarm as backup.

Ashton swore under his breath. This did not sound good. "Uh...I think I have to run. My roommate seems to be headed for a fast-track to jail."

Backup for what?! -__- he texted back hastily.

"Uh yeah, don't worry about it. Good luck with whatever the idiot's set up." Alexis said, laying her arms on the table now, crossing one against the other, holding back a wince from her head.

[Tiger-Lily]

Ashton hesitated a second, looking down at her as he picked up his book. "You wanna come with? It's probably something amazingly idiotic but it might, uh....cheer you up." She kind of looked like she needed a small, controlled dosage of Crazy Seth.

Alexis hesitated. "...With.. Seth?" She said, not entirely sure. Sure, the guy was good at cheering people up, but that was when he wasn't showing off to his friends. Or women.
