Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth laughed as the elevator doors finally opened. He stepped inside and hit G. "Guess what, that guy I was racing turned out to be this douchebag I knew in highschool. He apparently goes to NYU, according to his sister." Seth grinned. "He has a hot sister."
***
Evelyn forced a grin. "Honestly...even though I really want it to work, at the moment I can't see myself thinking of James as a friend," she said truthfully. She got up before Ashlee could answer and made her way over to the jukebox in the corner. She fiddled in her shorts pocket for a quarter and fed it into the machine. "Hmmm." She passed over Queen, Huey Lewis and ABBA and settled on a cutesy song by Berlin, "Take My Breath Away".

"Oh really?" Jake asked smirking, the elevator halted onto the ground level.
"You know maybe they should fix this damn thing!" Jake said stepping out of the elevator.
***
Before Ashlee hot to say anything she watched Evelyn pick something on the jukebox.
"Wow pretty gushy song there Ev." Ashlee noted.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth shook his head, seriously wondering if he couldn't get his father to donate a new elevator to the damn building. But he figured installing a new elevator wasn't possible now.
He and Jake headed over to the lounge room, which was a bit emptier than it was on the weekends, given that a lot of people still had class right now. For once, music was pouring out of it as they approached its doors. "What d'you wanne do?"
***
Evelyn glanced over the heads of a few girls clustered in a group nearby, and grinned at Ashlee. "Well, it's been a downer of a weekend! I don't feel like dancing but this definitely helps." She waltzed a little with the beat as she made her way back to Ashlee and then paused at a pool table where a pair of boys and a girl she'd seen on her floor stood arranging the pool balls, clearly ready to play. One of the boys looked over and spotted her, flashing a brief grin. He was dark-haired, with eyes so dark-grey they looked almost black, and was clearly of foreign descent. He also had a funny accent she couldn't quite place, sort of between Italian and something less twangy.
"Want to play, Red?" he drawled, glancing back at the triangle he was arranging. Evelyn opened her mouth to inform him she wasn't a redhead, but then shut it and figured a distraction was what she needed.
She nodded, beckoning Ashlee over. "I don't know how to play too well," she said, shrugging. The girl with them, a petite blond, grinned a little cattily.
Oh no, not one of those types. Evelyn was suddenly wishing she'd said no.
"No worries, we will teach you. Your cute friend too," the guy said, noticing who Evelyn had been signaling to over her shoulder. Evelyn noticed instantly he kind of rolled his r's like Jake did, but it definitely wasn't Spanish. She kicked the thought of Jake out of her mind. If she could help it, that kid didn't exist.
The other girl looked even more put out by her colleague's friendliness and shot Evelyn a frown. Evelyn turned her gaze away to Ashlee.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Ashlee left her bag in the chair and got up at Evelyn's signal, she looked the brunette boy over and smiled, he was a total hottie.
"Hey, sure we'd love to learn." She said flashing a smile at him.
"I'm Ashlee." She introduced herself to him, this is my best friend, "Evelyn."
***
"Wanna play pool?" Jake suggested to Seth. Although Jake kind of enjoyed crowds, he was relieved the lounge was pretty empty.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"The boy straightened up to put away the plastic triangle in his hands. He flashed them a brief grin. He wasn't exactly in James' league, Evelyn thought suddenly (and then felt angry at herself for it), but he had a literally heart-stopping grin. So did his friend. On closer inspection, Evelyn wondered if they were brothers.
"Izak," the first guy pronounced it "Isaac", collecting a pool cue from the other boy. "Not spelled the way you Americans would, I suppose." He flashed a slightly sheepish grin. "This is Anika," he nodded at the unhappy blond. "This is Radek, my cousin."
Radek appeared more interesting in polishing his pool cue with his fingers than socializing. "Can we start?" he said abruptly. He didn't have any noticeable accent.
Izak gestured to Ashlee, who was nearer, to take his pool cue. "Basic moves first. Then we can play an' dev-lop them," he said.
***
Seth automatically moved toward the lone pool table - and then stopped with a groan. "Too late. Somebody else already has it." A bunch of people were around the table. He didn't bother to check who, he simply marched over to the jukebox and wondered what the hell this horrid song was.
"This is gay shit," he informed Jake across the room, oblivious to a pair of boys who went slightly red and threw angry looks his way as they exited the room quickly, hand in hand.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"No shit."Jake agreed, he did see a couple of girls playing pool so he assumed that they probably put it on.
He got up and walked over to the juke box, he didn't know why but he felt a bit peppy. Usually like how he did after he drank five cups of coffee.
Jake walked up to Seth and nudged him with his hip, "Whatcha doingg?"
***
"Sounds good to me." Ashlee said grabbing the stick.
She heard Izaks accent and decided to ask, "Interesting accent you have there, where are you from?" She asked taking the first shot, scattering the balls across the table and sinking the blue ball in the corner pocket.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth shoved Jake back and then resumed perusing the songs on this particular jukebox. "I hate this stuff," he informed Jake. "It's all crappy oldies."
He stepped away and then turned - and his eyes landed on a familiar face. The boy playing pool nearby was with another guy and three girls whose faces Seth couldn't see from his view. "Ah shit. It's him. That douche I mentioned. And his hot sister," he added as an after-thought. "Crap, I really hope he doesn't live here."
***
Evelyn had been wondering the same thing Ashlee had asked. Izak flashed his grin again and walked over to where Evelyn stood, and leaned over the table to show her how to correctly position the cue. He shot and looked up at Ashlee.
"Prague."
Evelyn was distractedly watching his shot scatter pool balls across the board. A red and a green ball ricocheted into each other and sank into opposite pockets. Nice, she thought grudgingly. "Where''s that?" she asked aloud.
"Czech Republic," he said, straightening up. He was probably around six feet, she'd guess. Anika, the blond, lifted up her pool cue and walked to where Ashlee stood, leaning over and lining up a shot. Her shot made a perfectly triangular angle to two balls, knocking one smoothly into a center pocket. Izak watched this without comment, saying only, "I came to America for college. I have family here." He tilted his head toward Radek, who was now lining up his cue.
That would explain the accent. Evelyn figured she'd watch a few shots, until she felt like she could adapt them to her playing.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake looked over at the guy playing pool with the three girls, and he saw the blond one knowing that was probably the girl Seth thought was hot, and he was right he looked down at his friend and shrugged, "He really that much of a douche?"
***
"Hmm cool, always wanted to go there." Ashlee commenting on Izak's accent, as she watched the blond girl Anika? She wasn't sure all their names were pretty foreign sounding with the exception of Izak.
After watching them sink in a few balls Ashlee went to take her turn, she wasn't too bad at pool but she was no expert either, she took her turn and the ball came short of flying into a pocket, and she just shrugged going to Evelyn she nudged her, "Gonna take a turn Ev?"

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Evelyn nodded uncertainly and took the pool cue from Ashlee since there were only four to go around. She walked around to the other side of the table where Izak indicated there was a clear shot.
She leaned down and positioned her cue. Izak's tanned hand appeared over her shoulder to hold the cue at the right point. Evelyn frowned, mildly annoyed, but kept her face neutral. He was just being helpful.
Geez, it's just a game, her brain argued. Who cares if you're a little off-point?
Izak leaned over her head, tilting the point of her cue down and then rested his hand about two inches below where Evelyn's was. "Here. If you hold it zat way, your shot's going to be off-center."
And if you don't move your face away, your nose will be too, buddy, Evelyn thought indignantly, but she complied with a smile on her face, sliding the pool cue forwards and making the shot. To her surprise, her ball hit Ashlee's and bounced it all the way in. Evelyn blinked and then grinned up at Ashlee.
***
Seth glanced over at the table again; One of the boys was now gesturing to some girl, who was out of sight from Seth's view behind the other boy. She moved over to the other side of the table and Seth's eyes widened. Of course, it just had to be that girl. Evelyn leaned over the table and good ol' Izak was there to help. Just like Seth had expected Radek's cousin to do, if he was anything like Radek himself.
Seth glanced over at Jake, saying, "From my view, yeah. He's a faker if you ask me." He nodded at Radek, who was now observing Evelyn's shot with sneering eyes.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"You go girl." Ashlee cheered Evelyn on.
***
Jake arched an eyebrow at the dude, "How's he a fake--" Once the dude moved out of the way from helping some girl with her shot, he happened to see the girl who of course just had to be Evelyn.
Jake cursed himself mentally of course he would run into her, out of the thousands of people that live here he would have the bad luck of being in the same room as her, because since he had met Evelyn all his luck has done was go down the damn drain.
He straightened himself, cracking his knuckles he looked at Seth and decided to just ignore her, "So why is this guy a fake?" He asked coolly.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth wondered why the temperature of Jake's tone had gone down about a hundred degrees. He frowned and walked past Jake to sink onto a nearby couch, annoyed at the lack of pool tables. "His whole family's fake. That kid, his name's Radek, which is bizarre enough in itself, hails from some old family I've forgotten about. Every single time I've run into him, he's attempted to put me in my place. Somehow, that whole factor of my being adopted -" Seth's eyes flashed momentarily, but then he grinned, "-means that I'm apparently ghetto trash. Which is ironic, because I've met people from the ghetto with more class and IQ than that schmuck."
Seth turned in his seat to shoot the people around the pool table an amused glance. "I wonder how long it takes Red to find out. He'll probably decide she's too Irish to be classy."
***
Evelyn handed over her pool cue, stepping back to let Anna? Anika? take over the board. Anika made a quick shot, setting up a pocket for the other guy whose name Evelyn had forgotten. He took the shot, got the ball in and then said abruptly, "Are we done playing kindergarten yet, Zach? I'd kinda like to get to the actual game, if you lovely ladies don't mind." He didn't say it the way Seth had said it to Tiffany, and Evelyn doubted it was a compliment.
Izak shot his cousin the kind of look Evelyn had often seen Jake give Seth - a "shut your trap before you screw everything up" look.
"Ignore Radek, he's joking," Izak said quietly.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake went and sank in the seat next to Seth and observed them a little longer, "So this guy is what jealous of you or something? I'm confused." Jake stated trying to keep up with this, although just looking at those two he kind of didn't like the vibe he was getting from them either, it just screamed "tool."
Jake snorted at the joke directed towards Evelyn, "Maybe it will be after she beats him with a pool stick, she looks pretty annoyed at the guy." She seemed a bit disgruntled at that one kid's abrupt rudeness.
***
"Oh yeah he's hilarious." Ashlee said rolling her turquoise eyes at Radek, holding her pool cue she let out a breath, "Okay then lets speed the game up for Randy then." Ashlee had forgotten Radek's name, honestly it was a difficult name to remember plus his little snappy tone was something she did not appreciate.
Patience was a virtue, and well clearly this boy just seemed to lack manners and virtues in general.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"Radek," the guy corrected Ashlee, raising a dark eyebrow.
Evelyn was trying really hard not to pull an Alexis and ram the pool cue in Ashlee's hand up "Randy's" nose. She threw Ashlee a glance, wondering if they really should keep playing. She really wasn't up for a dramatic fight with some tool basking in his own awesomeness. She had way too much on her plate already.
Izak cleared his throat and sent Ashlee an apologetic look. "Yeah, he was brought up in a ditch. Excuse his lack of manners."
Trying not to add on to this, Evelyn moved away, over to the jukebox across the room, not really in a mood for animosity. She searched the pockets of her shorts for another quarter, not noticing Seth and Jake seated only feet behind her. "Hey, it's okay, Robo," she called over her shoulder. "She'll get your name right on the tenth try."
***
Seth cracked a grin at her comment. Knowing Radek, he wasn't going to appreciate sass from either of them. He liked his girls to be mute.
Seth glanced back at Jake, smirking. "Dude, everyone's jealous of this." He gestured to himself with both thumbs.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake narrowed his eyes at Seth, and shook his head laughing, "You poor thing." Jake laughed hearing Evelyn purposely mess up Radek's name, although her friend Ashlee had been right, who names their child Radek?
***
Ashlee pat Radek on the shoulder wearing a sly grin, "Yeah don't worry it was just a mistake, okay come on let's get this game on the row cause Rafiki here is gonna be late for his appointment at Pride Rock, to showcase Simba over the Pride Lands." Ashlee tried to hold down her laughter looking at Izak for him to take his shot.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Evelyn turned around and leaned back near the wall beside the jukebox, amused despite herself.
Unfortunately, the song currently playing ended right when a certain male voice spoke. About five feet away.
Oh freaking hell, no. Evelyn clenched her fists automatically, feeling her stomach start to churn as she risked a sidelong look to check and see if her nightmare was actually seated right there.
And he was. With Alexis' nightmare right beside him. Seth was half-turned to watch the pool table. Jake didn't look like he'd seen her; he was engaged in conversation with Seth, and Evelyn, swallowing, took a careful step away from them, returning her gaze to the pool table too. She wondered how to signal to Ashlee that she wanted to leave. Like, right this damn second.
***
Radek looked seriously peeved now. Izak decided this was heading to ugly too fast to break off any other way.
"Hey, Radek," he began.
"Rad," his cousin interrupted him, glowering at Ashlee.
Izak chose not to comment on this. He continued, "Why don't you go and, um, show Anika the campus?"
"I've already seen it," she said curtly. "Why doesn't she just shut it? We don't have to let her play, you know."
"It's a public pool table," Izak reminded her. "We kind of do."
***
"I know," Seth said pompously, trying to hear exactly what the people around the people table were saying. Evelyn's friend had apparently pissed Radek off. Seth hadn't heard her comment though. There were more people crowding in the room.
"Hey, Red's friend's cute," he commented absently, turning to see "Red" edging slowly away from the jukebox. She'd clearly seen Jake. Seth wondered why her cheeks were reddening to match her nickname. And why she looked so damn uncomfortable.
He turned back to Jake. "Pity she isn't blond though."

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake agreed, Ashlee is real cute and the tiny girl had a mouth on her, sort of like Evelyn, but you could kind of note the mischeivous tone in it, although right now she seemed to be doing a good job pissing off this Raymond dude.
"Yeah she is cute, but Red would kill us of either of us even attempted to talk to her." Jake told Seth remembering how Evelyn had given him a dirty look when he called Ashlee pretty.
***
"Listen up her Zachiaria and Rain man, clearly you invited my friend and I to play pool with you so you can throw the moves down on us. Which to be honest they sucked, especially yours Zachy." Ashlee said bluntly her blue eyes smoldering.
"So if Anita here doesn't want us to play and neither does Radcliff that's fine you two can entertain yourselfs with those poolsticks, come on Ev." Ashlee told her turning to leave she went to grab her bag at the chair she had set it down earlier.
Stupid jerks, this city seemed full of them.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"Not my type," Seth said with a shrug. "And if she's anything like Red, definitely not my type. There's such a thing as too feisty."
Izak frowned. These Americans were apparently full of themselves just as much as his cousin was. Not that Radek wasn't born a prick - coming here had clearly not helped him. Did this girl really think he or Radek were about to hit on her? She'd clearly never left the US.
Izak frowned after Ashlee. "And they wonder why the country's going to the dogs," he said clearly. When he caught Evelyn's narrowed eyes, he said bluntly, "I'm sorry, your friend's being a snob. I wasn't about to put the moves on her, as you call it. It's very bigheaded of her to think I would. I've met girls a hundred times better back home."
Evelyn, relieved as she was to leave, couldn't help thinking Ashlee was being a bit unfair. She just shrugged at Izak, pushed herself off the wall and walked over to grab her own bag. "You didn't have to piss off both of them," she said to Ashlee, slinging her bag over her shoulder.
"Yo, Red," Seth's voice called. Evelyn gritted her teeth and decided she could work the "mysteriously deaf" angle because there were enough people in the room to make it seem like she hadn't heard him. Even though he and Jake was about five feet near their seats.
Seth was not one for being ignored. "Yo," he called obnoxiously. "Is Alexis still pissed at me? 'Cause I kinda need my wallet back."

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Ashlee ignored Rodney's and Izak's commentary, but she heard Seth? Was that his name? She remembered faintly meeting him but she could have sworn he had darker hair.
She remembered Jake though, the boy sitting near him and she nudged Evelyn, "Hey I think... that's Seth right? He's talking to you."
Jake nudged Seth hard in the side, he really didn't feel like encountering Evelyn, "Dude you really think she's gonna tell you about the wallet?"

"Really? I hadn't heard him hollering across the room at the top of his lungs," Evelyn said, adjusting the strap of her bag and turning to leave with a grin.
Seth frowned at Jake. "I want my wallet. I can't keep waiting around till Antonio and Ashton manage to distract them. She might just tell me something!"
He looked over at Evelyn. "Hey, I know you can hear me, Red! You know, I live right down the hall, I can keep this up later!"
When Evelyn continued feigning deafness, Seth frowned. He turned to Jake, said, "Your fake ex is a heinous bitch," and got up, fully intent on annoying her until she caved. he was good at that.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Ashlee giggled, "He annoy you or something?" She asked wondering what it was now that those two had managed to do.
Jake scowled getting up after Seth, to follow him out, "Well no kidding Seth, its why I'm ignoring her, and she's just ignoring you cause she just flat out dislikes you, plus she's pretty freaking stubborn you sure you want to go up against this?" Jake asked him more so that he would just leave it and go deal with Alexis instead of going through Evelyn.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth frowned at Jake. "I am not grovelling for my wallet if I can just get it back through sheer wit and annoyance. You KNOW what Alexis would put me through if I asked her for it," he said firmly, grabbing Jake's arm to drag him across the room and intercept the two girls.
Evelyn swore under her breath and attempted to veer right in a bad diversion tactic. "Not Seth," she muttered to Ashlee. But she couldn't really face elaborating. Not with Jake and Seth suddenly in front of them.
Seth looked annoyed as he let go of Jake's arm. Jake clearly didn't look like he wanted to be here and Evelyn couldn't blame him. "Where's Alexis? You know she has my shit. I want it back," Seth announced bluntly. "And I don't want to grovel at her feet until she decides to give it back."
"I can't help you. It's none of my business," Evelyn pointed out, making sure she wasn't looking anywhere in Jake's direction. "She's out right now."
Seth narrowed his eyes, brain working quickly. Damn it, did Jake and Evelyn just have to fight right at that time? He could have done with some inside help. "Do you know where she'd keep it?" he asked.
Evelyn suddenly smiled wickedly. "Somewhere you'll never be able to reach," she said and Seth had the funniest feeling she was about to laugh. Why? Where on earth would he not be able to reach?
Yeah, we're definitely going in by the ledge, he decided. "And Jake's phone?" he asked, more to stop her looking so gleeful.
Evelyn's smile faded and her eyes flicked over to Jake for a half-second. "What about his phone?" she asked neutrally.
"He misplaced it," Seth informed her, thinking something was off here. He glanced at Jake curiously.
"I don't know where it is," Evelyn said, swallowing very visibly. She nudged Ashlee. "But we have to get going."

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake hung back behind Seth watching as he annoyed the hell out of Evelyn, and Evelyn who clearly wanted to just get out of there and away from Seth although that was never anything new, she always wanted to get away from them.
"Um Ev if he left it at your place why don't you just let him look?" Ashlee suggested.
Jake had noticed that Evelyn seemed a bit uneasy and he had a real strong feeling that of course she had his phone, but she wasn't going to say anything because she was all about driving him nuts and especially after what had happened yesterday there was no way she was giving his phone back.
"Its funny you know? How you guys take our stuff and say you hate us and don't want to see us. Yet you hold onto our crap? Why are females so difficult for?" Jake said flatly.

Evelyn glanced at Ashlee. "I did let him look." She nodded at Jake and then raised her voice so he'd hear her. "And maybe if Seth were to ask Alexis why she has his stuff, he'd know exactly why she's keeping it."
Seth paled a little and Evelyn knew he was imagining the sorts of things her roomie would want to make him do before she gave up her bribe. "That's low," he said irritably.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Ashlee decided to butt out because she had no idea why Evelyn or Alexis were holding on to the boys stuff thats if they were, clearly they all didn't seem to get along.
"Listen we all know why Alexis would have Seth's wallet its because he pisses her off, just like how I piss you off. So of course to get back at us for being such dicks, you both have stuff that we need and are gonna hold onto it until you both deem fit to give them back to us. I'm not stupid I know you have my phone, so I'm just waiting to get the damn thing back." Jake said irritably wondering where his nicer mood had gone to that he had when they came down.
Probably lack of sleep was making him so snappy, along with other annoying things from this weekend.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Evelyn's gaze became about ten times frostier when she directed it at Jake, and Seth considered backing off. These girls had proved themselves unstable already.
"You already looked for it at our place," she said curtly to the Spaniard. "Maybe if you got over bitching at me and opened your eyes, you'd find it under your own nose."
