Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth flinched and looked around guiltily. Oh fuck. How'd he know? Does he have a dog radar on this mutt? Man, I knew Jake was a freak.
"Heyy, buddy," he said brightly to Jake, still dangling Nova in the air in his backpack. Evelyn took advantage of his distraction and attempted to reach up on her tiptoes to grab the bag. Seth dangled it away, shaking his head at her smugly.
"Nah uh. My stuff first and then you get the dog."
"I don't want the dog!" she said frustratedly. Seth hoped she was lying. Evelyn finally noticed Jake's sudden appearance.
Seth waited for the fireworks. They came.
Evelyn shoved past him and rounded on the Spaniard instead, a feat Seth admired given Jake was about double her height and looked mad as hell. Still, the redhead looked equally pissed.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" she snapped at Jake. "Why'd you let this psycho take Nova to bribe me? Honestly!"
"Hey!" Seth said, offended. "It was a good idea!"

"What the fuck!? Why the hell are you even yelling at me Red! I had no fucking idea he took Nova here as a fucking negation deal with you! The bastard came to my room and started pounding on the god damn door, and Nova ran out in the living room and I let him so he could walk around. I didn't think Seth was gonna kidnap him! For once I actually had nothing to do with it!" Jake snapped, he couldn't believe he was being blamed for this shit!
The last thing he wanted this morning was to get into a freaking argument with Evelyn, he just wanted to sleep in god damn it! Not have to bring his dog back.

"Come on, you were all for sending Nova in to steal your shit back!" Seth protested. He lowered his hand and she snagged the bag, storming inside the suite to put the bag down. Nova crawled out, wobbling on his little legs, and she scooped him up in her arms before standing to face the two boys.
"You know what, I'll keep the poor thing. Before you idiots end up killing him," she said, more to Jake than Seth, who she knew couldn't care less if she took Nova. "And if you honestly thought he'd help you get your stuff back, wow, you're stupider than I thought."
"Thanks a lot," Seth muttered to Jake, annoyed. If Jake hadn't come storming along, Evelyn would have caved. That was why Seth hadn't brought Jake along - these two just never managed to make a civil deal of anything.

"Thanks a lot?! THANKS A LOT!" Jacob shouted down at Seth, he didn't know what to really do anymore at this point he was just so frustrated with this Nova situation and his damn memory card, and Seth's wallet and just everything!
"You want your wallet you go in there and get it! Don't use Nova for a freaking bargaining chip! And If I treat him so damn bad, fine Evelyn you can have him! I don't care! Clearly this is just getting worse, and since I'm such a terrible owner, you can take care of him, put bows on his head I don't care! Nova is yours and so is my memory card, I'm so so sick of this damn argument you want my crap go ahead and fucking have it!" Jacob yelled, his brown eyes smoldering, he turned back and stormed down the hall walking into their dorm, and back into his room.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth winced but was far too used to having Jake blow up at him to really be bothered.
Evelyn, for her part, looked increasingly enraged. "He is SUCH a freaking DIVA!" she hissed. Nova whimpered in her arms and she jiggled him comfortingly, a sight at shocking contrast with the anger in her face.
Seth blew out a breath. "So...can I have my wallet back?"
She turned and headed to Alexis' room, which had been left unlocked. Alexis only bothered to close it when she knew Evelyn wasn't home. Evelyn headed inside, balancing Nova, and dug around in Alexis' desk drawer, finally locating the wallet.
She walked back out and into her own room, setting Nova down. Where the hell was the memory card?
She rummaged around while Seth hummed to himself. A cute blond down the hall poked her head out of her own suite, frowning. She looked familiar. That girl who hung around the douche, Radek?
"What's with the screaming? Some of us like to sleep in on days we don't have school," she complained. Seth grinned.
"Oh, just a nasty break up," he said flippantly. She smiled a bit, but still looked annoyed.
Where the hell was the redhead? he wondered. Was she getting ready for a ball?
When Evelyn returned though, he saw she had been getting ready - to his extreme annoyance. Why the hell did she have to get ready?
She was also holding a memory chip and his wallet in his hand. Nova was back in her room. Evelyn threw the wallet at Seth's chest, slung her bag up over her shoulder and shoved past him down the hall with Jake's memory card in her fist.
"Hey! Give me that!" Seth called after her confusedly.
She shook her head and held up her hand. "Just stay there till I get back. Watch Nova or I swear I will make you regret it."
"I already regret watching him," Seth muttered, but stayed in the door of her suite, winking roguishly at a few girls as they emerged. The blond had disappeared.
***
Evelyn headed down to the boys' suite. Jake and Seth had left the door open so she marched right in, ignored Ashton's surprised "Hi?" and hammered on Jake's closed door.
"Open up, you whiny-ass Latino!"
Ashton, in the living room, sniggered into his bowl of cereal.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake had decided in his rage to get dressed he yanked on jeans and pulled on a red shirt, zipping up his black sweater he figured he could just get out of here and clear his damn head he was annoyed, that's when he heard a shrill voice on the other side that he knew didn't belong to Seth, but to her.
He clenched his jaw and fist and slammed open to his door, "What the hell do you want you bitchy Leperchaun!"

Ashton cringed. And decided to get the hell out of there. He disappeared quickly to his room and flung on his earphones.
Evelyn gaped up at the Spaniard. Her fist threatened to crunch his stupid memory card in half. She was shaking, she was so angry. "I'm the bitch? Have you heard yourself lately? All you ever do is throw a tantrum, turn and prance off! Who the hell died and made you queen of Bitchfest?"

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"HEY! The only reason why I've been on such a fucking edge these last three weeks is because of having the unfortunate experience of RUNNING INTO YOU! Yeah I have a fucking temper, but it was way easier to manage until Hurricane Evelyn blew in to the fucking city! So the only reason I turn around and walk away is so I do not physically rip your red head off your fucking shoulders, and shove it into the garbage disposal with a metal baseball bat!" Jake shouted, the amount of anger he's felt in these last few weeks alone, is more then he's felt in his last eighteen years of life.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"You are such a bastard!" Evelyn shot back, face reddening. She flinched inside at his words but kept her face stoic. She took a tiny step forward in case she decided to shove his memory card up his nose. "You think I liked having to fake civility around James to you? Do you have any idea how freaking annoying you are? You're one egotistical jackass if you think for a damn second I ever wanted to be anywhere near you! And for the record, I'm not a redhead!" she finished, frustrated. Were all these people colorblind?

Ashton groaned to himself in his room. Antonio was lucky he was asleep. Ashton could hear way too much of Evelyn and Jake's heated arguing. He turned up the volume on his iTunes, nearly blowing out his eardrums, but now he couldn't hear them anymore. Thank God.

"Oh because you think I enjoyed being nice to such a cold hearted, emotionless bitch?! I'm sorry you're not a fucking red head you're right, you look more like a fucking ORANGE! An annoying bitchy ass orange, who just needs to take the stick out of her damn ass and learn that life isn't all about being a stoic ice queen! NO WONDER YOU'RE STILL A FUCKING VIRGIN! All you do is WHINE! You act like you can do everything yourself, and you're so damn stubborn when it comes to admitting that you need fucking help! You need help in every aspect in your life! Yeah I'm an egotistical jack ass, but at least I have friends that I don't push away just to keep up some fucking lie, just so my ex will get over me!" He finished, pissed off. Was she just intent on ruining his damn life.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"You know why I'm such a stoic, emotionless bitch, as you call it, Jacob? You know why I'm still a virgin and as proud of it as you are of being a manwhore?" she snapped, not bothering to lower the decibel level of her voice. "It's because of assholes like you! You think you're the shit, don't you, Salazar? You think I'm so horrible, because I'm not falling all over your feet like the next hoe! So by contrast to the sluts you hang around with, I must look like a freaking nun! Has it occurred to you that it's not just me being a bitch? Has it occurred to you that even though your best friend is annoying as hell, he's still decent in the fact that he doesn't make stupid assumption about every girl he meets?" She paused to take a breath and spoke before he could.
"Yeah, I get it, I owe you for the James thing. That doesn't mean you're right in every respect. And I thought James was a douche! But you make him look angelic because he never makes continued assumptions just because he's on the rag 24/7!"

Re: Freshmen Dorms
"I DON'T WANT SHIT FROM YOU! Fuck if you think I was ever going to get anything to you! You know my one fucking mistake in this whole thing was at some point actually treating you like a fucking friend when you don't deserve it! The only reason I've been like this is because you've made me like this! I'm never this angry all the damn time! You know what fine yeah I make stupid assumptions about you fucking females but all you've ever done is prove every single one of them I've ever had right! Trust me I know I'm no fucking saint but at the same time I don't pretend that "Oh look I'm Evelyn, I'm a good girl whose nice to everyone and wouldn't dare hurt anyones feelings." No all you do is piss off everyone around you, your friends, your roommate and even James" Trust me I was never like this before, but its bitches like you that have made me the way I am!" He yelled .
He was beyond being considerate to his neighbors, at this point he didn't care who heard this or not.

Evelyn's eyes were blazing. "I never pretended!" she shot at him. "I'm a saint in YOUR eyes because you think it's a crime to be a virgin! I've never claimed to be a saint! I mess up just as much as anyone else, more in fact! But ever since I came here it's been mistake after mistake with you! You think you're so high and mighty pointing out everything I've messed up in. Trust me, I KNOW saying anything to you was a bad idea that night we ran into James! But you seem to forget that at least I don't go around all bad-ass thinking I'm invulnerable because I scare off everyone! I don't pretend I've not pissed off people but I make up for it, you asshole! You just think you can throw a fit and get away with it - have you ever stopped to consider it's not just fate but the fact that you royally screw up just as much as I do that's making everything go wrong for you?" She paused and breathed in heavily, stepping backwards from his doorway before she socked him on accident, and leaning back against the wall.

Seth was looking at his watch. What the hell was she doing? He could hear a distant commotion and he stayed right where he was, pulling out his phone and sending Lola a quick text. Trouble on the homefront. Jake n Red havin masive blowout.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake was just so fed up with her, he couldn't stand the sight of her or the fact that she was in his presence at this moment or any moment in time she needed to leave and she wasn't going to.
Out of all the anger and the frustration that just seemed to be building on top of everything happening at this exact moment, he reeled back his arm, his fist impacting into the wall, right next to Evelyn's head.
The wall cracked, he pulled his fist out from the hole he had just punched into the wall, pieces of the dry wall hitting on the floor in scattered pieces, he shook out his bleeding knuckled hand, "You get the fuck out of here right now! I'm so livid right now that I practically took out your head, don't make me do something I'll regret!" He shouted lividly.
***
Lola had been in her room, she only had one class on Friday's when she got a text from Seth, and her eyes bugged out, What do u mean blow out!? Where the hell are you why aren't you stopping this? She texted back rapidly hitting send and getting up heading out of her suite she figured that if it was as massive as Seth was making it sound, although she could tell in the way the smug bastard sent the text that he was being nonchalant. She took the stairs to cut off time waiting for that damn elevator.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth had decided to head home and check on Jake - the kid had a temper to rival the redhead's. He replied to Lola as he went. Im going. Im just sick of their shit. :/
On instinct, he stopped at the stairwell door and texted. U comin down? Dont
He had a funny feeling that maybe this blowout was exactly what those two needed. Instead of festering in resentment.
***
Evelyn had to admit: she didn't scare easily but Jake had just terrified the crap out of her. She could feel her breath coming out shakily and blinked hard, feeling her clenched fists quiver uncontrollably as she pressed herself back against the wall. For a second, she'd really thought he'd been about to hit her and she'd been too slow to duck.
She bit her lip and opened her white-knuckled fist, letting his memory card drop down to the carpet next to her feet. She lifted her gaze, half-afraid to meet his eyes in case he really did hit her this time. Jake right now kind of reminded her of Dov and that was an unpleasant memory.
She wasn't stupid - she'd seen violent men in her family before and she had no urge to be around another. Hell, this one was bi-polar. And probably schizo.
Evelyn straightened up, looking toward the door, which suddenly seemed rather far away, and muttered, "I'm sorry I made you feel." She stepped over a chunk of plaster and walked quickly to the door, hating the fact that she felt kind of scared keeping her back to him.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Lola stopped hearing her phone vibrate she read the message from Seth and wasn't sure whether or not if she should listen to him, it had been awhile since she last talked to Jake, and he had been kind of distant from her as of recently, she sighed and really hoped that Seth was going to keep this under control, Okay I'm going back, but if anything else happens let me know.
***
Jake watched Evelyn as she made her way to the door, he was still shaking from having punched the wall, as the reality of the situation began to slowly sink in he couldn't believe nearly punched her. He would never hit a girl, no matter how annoying they were.
He was shaking, and he was wondering if he had just had an episode, he hadn't had an episode since... and now that he wasn't angry it was replaced by fear. Fear that he might have actually hurt Evelyn and he didn't realize it, but he didn't. He punched the wall. His hands shook more , he was really panicking now.
Jacob needed to calm down, he ran to the shelf where Seth had kept their alcohol and grabbed the vodka sitting on the shelf, he went to grab a cup from the cupboard and his hand was shaking like he was a diabetic. He shakily poured the alcohol into his glass and tried to take a sip but instead dropped the glass letting it shatter everywhere. Jake closed his eyes trying to take a deep breath, but instead he just cursed, "God damn it!"
He threw the vodka bottle against the cabinets letting it shatter, and spill all over the tiled floor and sank down to the floor of the kitchen, his knuckles still bleeding he closed his eyes resting them against the counter. How could Jake let himself get to this point?

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Seth bit his lip. He was wagering kind of dangerously here. He knew Jake already had a short fuse - and given that Evelyn did too and Jake tended to skip his meds, his anger might go to full-blown inferno if she prodded it enough. He was capable of pretty much anything if he was riled up enough and Seth knew his friend had days where he fought to restrain himself.
Seth was rather guilty of taunting Jake often himself. He leaned back against the wall by the stairwell, listening. The argument sounded like it was over....his suite was kind of far away though. So he couldn't tell.
God dammit, I better not find blood when I come back...
***
Evelyn had closed the suite door behind her and paused to catch her shaky breath before turning to go. She was only about two steps away when she heard a mall crash in the background.
She was ashamed to admit it made her pick up her pace in slight fear.
But then she heard a bigger crash that sounded like it ricocheted off something. Several people in the hall looked around. Evelyn bit her tongue hard and tried to stop herself from quivering.
Ignore it. Ignore it... What had she said to him that had made him that mad? Despite her new fear of him, she felt distinctly guilty. If there was anyone who knew how frightening the concept of lowering one's emotional walls were, it was her.
Evelyn really wanted to run back to her suite right now. She didn't want to be anywhere near Jake and his fists. But...
No, keep walking. Don't be an idiot. You do not want to get in punching range of him. Quit being stubborn over this - that guy could kill you with one hand. her brain and her guilt were now bickering. She knew Jake was quick to rile - hell, his bipolarity was just an aid in that.
Evelyn ignored the voice of reason in her head and turned around, walking back to the suite door and pushing it open cautiously. She edged around it, one hand on her bag in case she needed a weapon (although she doubted it would affect Jake much if he felt like strangling her). God, she felt like a wuss right now. But feminist she might be - she wasn't impractical enough to think she could take on a guy Jake's size. Maybe if he were caught offguard...
She glanced through the first doorway and saw him instantly in the kitchen, sitting on the floor amidst a mess of glass and what smelled like liquor pooled around him. One of his knuckles was still bleeding.
Evelyn had to admit she was a complete coward right now, several times, before she managed to step forward and sidle to the fridge. She kept her eyes on Jake more of out fright than anything as she eased open the freezer door and grabbed the first frozen thing she found - a pack of sausages coated in hard ice. She took it out and the freezer slammed shut with a loud thunk. Evelyn cringed. She took a deep breath and then managed to squeak out, "He...here." She held out the pack of sausages to him, careful not to get anything other than her shaking hand in his arm reach. "It'll, uh, stop the bleeding."

Jake lifted his eyes of the mess he had made hearing Evelyn's quiet voice above him, holding a pack of sausages as a source of an ice pack, he looked at it to avoid making eye contact with her, he felt so ashamed for what he did. He didn't even hit her and he could have, he could have and it would have really hurt her.
He lifted his arm slowly and took it gently from her hand not to frighten her anymore than he had, and put it over his bleeding knuckle, feeling the cold sting him a bit, "I'm sorry, I'm so... I would never hit a girl... never... I" He muttered quietly, he felt so small right now he didn't know what to do or say so he just opted for sitting on the kitchen floor.

Evelyn tried to breathe around the knot of panic in her chest. She couldn't really think of anything to say though so she simply bit her lip to shreds. She couldn't say "it's okay" to reassure him - that would be a lie. She was still shaking and she flinched even when he lifted his arm to take the pack of sausages from her.
"Do you have bandages anywhere here?" she asked him instead, keeping her gaze on him just in case. She didn't think he'd do anything because it seemed like he was over his spell.
But still.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake caught her gaze and saw it, saw that look of fear in her and it just added more to his guilt, he looked up and let out a small cough as to ease the tension or something, "Um there should be a first aid kit or something in the bathroom." He told her.

Evelyn silently turned and walked to the bathroom, trying not to run. She quickly found the kit and carried the box back to the kitchen, hesitating.
Stop being a freaking baby! She shook herself and walked over to Jake' side, crouching down carefully amidst the glass as she set the case down. "Are you planning to hibernate here?" she asked warily.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Jake cracked a small smile as Evelyn crouched down beside him, "Actually I was gonna see if I could get drunk off inhaling the fumes of vodka, or maybe see how long it would take for these sausages to thaw, which do you think would happen quicker?"

She frowned a little, thrown off by that smile. She still couldn't figure the kid out. Evelyn lowered her gaze and busied herself pulling out a roll of gauze and some ointment for anti-bacteria. She began unraveling the gauze.
Then she remembered she was supposed to stay the hell away from him. She silently held out the half-unraveled gauze and the tube to him, shutting the box with her other hand so she could leave as soon as she'd satisfied her guilty conscience.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Obviously a small joke wasn't going to cut it this time, he had really freaked her out and he didn't want to. Jake hated himself after he had an episode. He disliked scaring people like this, and even though him and Evelyn didn't get along with each other he just didn't want her bugging him not to run away in fear.
Jake drew in a strained breath, "Listen... I know, I know I scared you, and listen I scare myself too when I go through and um... episode." He hated saying that word it always left a bad taste in his mouth, "It took everything in me Re--Evelyn." He corrected himself. "It took all I had to keep me from hitting you and it was never my intention, ever. You bug me yeah but I would never hit a girl and after what happened the last time I went through this I swore I wouldn't."
He stopped to look off at the wall, and took a deep breath and went on, "The last time I had an episode was two years ago in April right after Rachel had broke it off with me, um.. Seth or Lola don't know this. I mean they knew it screwed me up, but I was home and just freaking out you know, and I... I hit my mom." He said quietly and felt this weight on his heart, when he repeated that. No one knew about that day except him and his mother. Not even his dad knew.
"I hit my mother and I hurt her and I hadn't even realized it, you know how they say like I don't know is it blind with fury or rage. Its just like when I lose control like that it scares me so much because its like I'm only controlled by my anger, and its like everything else to me is blinded and after it sets into me after its passed its when I realize what shit I've done, and its so scary and I never wanted to lose control around anyone like that and after doing that... I just... I'm sorry I'm so sorry, I can apologize to you a million times and to my mother, its just. I know I'm sick but it shouldn't excuse what I do." Jake's voice rasped slightly, probably from yelling so much earlier, he rubbed at his eye absently.

Re: Freshmen Dorms
Evelyn gnawed her lip, almost about ready to get up and leave. She still felt herself shaking just a little from the memory but given what he was saying, she'd actually gotten lucky.
She didn't know how she felt knowing this though. Part of her wished he'd not told her so she could stay mad at him. Not that it made her forgive him. Forgiveness would be a long while coming. Because he had let himself get riled up in the first place. But she couldn't fault him for his anger turning to blind fury. She was actually kind of shocked he hadn't hit her, now that she thought about it. He adored his mom and yet that hadn't saved Carmen.
Irish luck, she figured, thankful.
She couldn't find anything to say though, so she went with lifting her head, looking him in the eye and snapping, "You are such a douche. Did you just call me by your ex girlfriend's name?"
