"Sure, its why you keep running back to him?" James had noticed how friendly they seemed to be with each other on Facebook, even after their little blow out at the bonfire and Vudu. Evelyn just seemed to keep going back to him.

"No," Evelyn said, and she meant it. She had more reason than a petty fight keeping her from working things out with Jake. This time, it wasn't some stupid cupcake he'd thrown at her.

James nodded,"Uh huh, right. You know I thought we were bad, but I've never seen two people more dysfunctional. "I hate, you, you smell. Here let me shove a cupcake up your nose and tell you I'm using you, hey while you do that let me almost beat your head off with my fist and call you a whore.... " James imitated them, ignoring Evelyn's angry expression and relented. "Next moment, "Oh you're so funny, I like you. We get along. Here lets be secret boyfriend and girlfriend." James mocked her cruelly.

Her eyes widened. Luke decided to intervene...because Evelyn suddenly looked like she was about to cry. "James, shut up," he said firmly.

Evelyn, feeling like James might as well have slapped her, ignored the painful clenching in her gut and stated in a slightly quivering voice, "Somebody sounds jealous."

James ignored Luke and instead just focused an icy gaze on Evelyn, "Sounds like someone lost the fight."

[Tiger-Lily]

"Sounds like somebody's in denial," she replied, meeting his eyes and trying to ignore the ache inside her stomach. She freaking hated situations like this. She knew how it'd end. James would throw down some cutting remark, she'd answer rudely, he'd leave and she'd no doubt end up crying after more than a month of going without!

Luke reached over and shook James' shoulder. "I think you need to leave."

James just shrugged off Luke's arm, he figured he'd leave. Alexis wasn't here and he really had no reason to hang around here. "I don't care, I'll go I've got better things to do then hang out here." James said getting up and leaving the suite.

Luke heaved a sigh and got off the couch, going over to kneel beside Evelyn, who was now again staring down at her book but her eyes were unfocused.

"You all right?" he asked gently. She nodded stiffly and Luke reached over and gave her a hug, unable to think of anything to say.

What the hell could he say though? He didn't know why she let James get to her like that. Unless....

No, that's just stupid. Even if she's not with Jake, she still likes him...not James.

Evelyn inhaled sharply against his shoulder, blinking hard. Luke prayed she wasn't about to full-fledged cry on him! Ah hell, James, why do I always have to clean up your messes?

She didn't cry though. She pulled back and rubbed her eyes with one hand, squinting down at her textbook with wet eyes. "I'm fine," she muttered.

"Why do you let him get to you?" he blurted out, angry at James, but also at her for letting James affect her so damn easily! Couldn't she just ignore it?

Evelyn didn't answer, pressing her lips into a thin line.

Luke hesitated. "Do you still....do you still feel someth-?"

"I think I need to get back to studying," she interrupted, voice cold. Luke flinched, not used to having her ice him out. It was usually someone else.

"Right," he said quickly, getting to his feet. He decided not to stress her out with questions and instead, bent and kissed her head before leaving the suite quietly.

He honestly wanted to talk to James but with James in this mood, they'd get nowhere!

Frustrated, Luke pulled out his phone and texted Ashlee. Ev n James had fight. James brought up Jake. Ev almost cried. SOS!

Seth wandered into Jake's room, stepping over Nova's chubby body. "Damn, it's like climbing a fence."

Ashlee had been studying for her English final when she got her incoming text from Lucas, and let out a long annoyed sigh. Why did they always have to get into fights? Why was James being so cold to her still!?

Ugh I dunno Luke, they're so weird! I mean they were like both flirting on my status a couple days ago. So idk what to do anymore.

She sent to Luke and she was right. So far it was always Luke and her cleaning up the messes between James and Evelyn. As much as she wanted a JEv wedding, she doubted it happening more and more.

Nova barked up at Seth, and Jake looked up from his computer rubbing his eyes from having stared at the screen for too long since he had been writing a paper, "Those girls spoiled him, I swear I'm putting him on a diet and taking him out like everyday." Jake said staring down at the chubby beagle.

Despite him still being just as cute even at his chubby weight, Jake didn't want Nova getting sick because he was eating like a little pig.

Luke reached his suite and entered, shutting and locking the door behind him as he strolled over to James' room to ensure he hadn't freaked out. And broken a mirror.

Luke texted Ashlee as he walked. I saw that. James honestly sounded pissd when he was talkin about Ev choosin Jake ovr him.

Luke knocked on James' door.

"I bet Evelyn would decapitate you if she thought you were starving the mutt," Seth stated, sitting on Jake's bed. "Gotta clear it with the ex-wife, Jake."

James heard a knock on his door knowing it had to be Luke and just figured he'd let him in anyway because if they didn't talk about it know he would just bug him later so James went and opened his door, then returned to sit on his chair.

Ashlee bit her lip, she could understand where James was coming from on that one. She had once been in that position herself and it really did suck.

Honestly, I can see where James is coming from and it sucks. But I feel like they've been fighting for too long now.

"I'm not gonna starve him, just get him different food. They have like healthy dog food and stuff. We need to rotate again I guess, he can't just sit indoors all day either. He needs to go outside." Jake said listing off things in his head, realizing that he would still need to run this by Evelyn, but given her weird attitude towards him today he wasn't sure if she was really in a negotiating mood with him.

[Tiger-Lily]

Luke leaned in James' doorway, sending him a silent, studying look. "You all right?" he repeated his question quietly.

Damn, he should be a therapist.

Seth pursed his lips, remembering what he'd told Jake regarding Evelyn. "I don't trust her," he said abruptly to the back of Jake's head.

"If I was alright would you need to talk to me? I guess I'm just bitter, her picking him over me. Its like I felt like I did so much for her and it was all for nothing. To get chosen over by someone better than me I would get, but you know he's not a good guy. He's a freaking convict and I know I'm not THAT much better, but I guess it just hurts." James told Luke, leaning back in his chair.

Jake let out a sigh looking up, but not turning to face Seth, "I know you don't trust her." Was his response. He really didn't feel like having this discussion at the moment.

[Tiger-Lily]

Luke wondered what the whole crazy Alexis thing was about then. "You seem pretty interested in someone else though. I thought you moved on."

Seth straightened. "Do you honestly trust her? Trust that she isn't off messing around with someone else? Trust that she's not going to ditch you at the drop of a hat if it suits her?"

Luke was right he had moved on, he wanted to be with Alexis but he felt weird around Evelyn. Like how he was around her just moments ago was how he was supposed to be. It was so weird, he knew he had no interest in her and he wanted to be with Alexis. James just shrugged, "I know I like Alexis, I just I don't know why I am that way around Ev is all."

"Seth I don't know! Alright?" Jake said frustrated, Nova picked his head up from the carpet widening eyes up at Jake. Jake reached down and ruffled his head going to sit on the foot of his bed.

He didn't want to think about Evelyn running around with other guys, but honestly they weren't together so if she wanted to she could. He couldn't exactly stop her. Plus he couldn't ruin every date or potential guy she would run into, he'd have to drop out of school!

Luke frowned at James. The way he'd said he "liked" Alexis was odd.

Mechanical. That was the word. Luke frowned, suspicion building in him when he remembered an earlier conversation with Evelyn where she'd complained about James not acting like he was "supposed to".

Why was James "supposed to" act a certain way?

"Since when did you start liking Alexis?" Luke asked carefully. Something was up. This wasn't James at all.

Seth got to his feet, deciding Jake just had to learn from the fall if he wasn't planning to listen to anyone. "Fine. I gotta get back to studying," he said simply, returning to his room.

Nova peered up at Jake, sensing his mood, and whined softly.

James tried to remember when he had started to like Alexis, and then of course it hit him. "It was the night of the bonfire on the roof? Yeah I mean something about her that night... its just she looked so pretty and I just wanted her. I mean not just to sleep with her but to actually be with her you know?"

Jake hoisted up Nova on his bed and fell onto his back hugging the dog, "Nova your life is so easy. Even though you're fat." Jake said quietly petting the dog.

"What besides her being pretty made you like her?" Luke asked, curious and growing even more suspicious. James had seen Alexis many, many times before. And dressed better than she'd been that night.

Evelyn had moved her work to her dorm room, sitting on her bed with her books spread around her. She was feeling somewhat better after having teased Rose a bit about her ongoing romance - if it could be called that - with Seth. Evelyn checked her watch, noticing she was way behind her study schedule.

Screw it, Ashlee was right. Boys were just a waste of time. Suddenly, Evelyn lost all motivation to go to the dance. Sure, she'd find a date, but to go there and possibly face James' humiliating commentary, Seth's scathing remarks and who knew what else?

That wasn't her idea of fun. Evelyn tapped her pencil on her notebook, thinking back to Luke's question.

Why had she gotten so damn pissed? James hadn't said anything out of the ordinary.

And yet, he shouldn't have. The potion should have mellowed him....right?

Evelyn pulled her laptop over to begin researching love potion cures, wondering idly if Nova was back yet.

She got to her feet and figured she'd go relieve Jake of him since she'd lost all motivation to work.

She didn't bother with a coat, but slipped on her boots and grabbed her keys, heading down to Jake's suite with her sports bag. She knocked on the door.

"I don't know Luke, its like hard to explain. My feelings for her its like it happened so fast." James told Luke, he knew he liked her and he wanted to be around her and that she was perfect.

Jake had dozed off again, not really sure when he had but between work and studying he was exhausted.

The knocking on the door is what woke him, he forgot he had Nova with him and picked the dog up with him. They went to open the door and he saw Evelyn standing there.

"Hey." Jake yawned at her, Nova nestling his head under Jake's chin.

[Tiger-Lily]

Luke's instinct tingled in alarm. When asked this question about Evelyn, James had been able to give a very coherent answer. Now...

"James," he said, moving over to stand in front of him and frown, "Name one thing you like about Alexis besides her physical traits."

"You look like crap," Evelyn greeted Jake. She indicated her bag. "Figured I should relieve Nova from you." And then get the hell away from Jake before she made things worse for them both.

James contemplated tgat thought for a moment. Sure she was beautiful, but what else?

James mused over this a little nore and simply shrugged.

You're one to talk." Jake teased her. Even though he knew she would always look way better than he would if he was tired.

Jake brought his mind back to the present and looked down at her frowning, "Hey listen I don't mind watching him."

Luke bit his lip. What the hell was going on?! James wasn't this shallow!

"You have no idea," Luke said slowly. "Do you?"

Evelyn only then remembered her hair was down and tangled down her back after her running her fingers through it agitatedly. She didn't return Jake's smile. "No, it's fine." She set her bag down and held out her arms for the beagle, who gave a happy yip. "You look tired anyways."

"Nope, I just know that I like her." James stated simply.

"You look tired too, really its no problem. I can bring him to you later." Jake offered, he kind of didn't want to give up Nova yet since he hadn't seen the dog in awhile, plus he figured maybe he could decode what was going through Evelyn's head.

Luke bit his lip hard. James was starting to creep him out. "Just...just like that? Can't you think of ONE thing that might have triggered the change? What were you doing when you suddenly decided you liked her that night?"

Evelyn gave a quiet huff, already in a bad mood from her encounter with James. "Look, just...ugh," she didn't want Jake to bring him by later. It would involve Jake having to come over. Evelyn blew out her breath, looking away and then back at him, trying to mask her frustration. "I'll bring him to you for the weekend. I have to be out or studying anyways, so you can keep him then."

James thought back on the nights events and scratched his chin, "Well I was watching Ev fight with that idiot, then Ashlee walked by with drinks and I took one from her and I chugged it and it made me sick and I wasn't feeling good after that and then Alexis had kind of been there to help me, so it was sometime I guess during that. Since she helped me."

Jake raised an eyebrow at her, she sounded if anything more annoyed then she had when she came by earlier. "Are you okay? Did I say something to upset you earlier, or something? You're being kind of weird. I thought we were okay for now?" He asked her.
