Jake ran a hand through his hair tipping his head back against the wall closing his eyes. "Seth, I don't remember saying or doing anything down there. I don't even remember walking into the lounge. Yesterday I had attacked Nova when I saw Evelyn walking him around campus and I didn't remember it,not at all. I'm not remembering doing or saying anything these last few days and it freaks me out so much. And none of you believe me cause I sound fucking crazy..." Jake's voice came out quietly.

[Tiger-Lily]

"You what Nova?" Seth asked, eyes wide. Not that he gave a shit about the mutt but Nova was like Jake's s surrogate son! "Damn, bet Red was real pleased..." He sighed and paused again. "Look, dude, I'd willingly believe you except half the shit you did during these blank-out moments really is something you'd do, like picking fights with random dudes at night. And, um, lithium is supposed to cause depression, so it explains why you'd um...you know?"

He cleared his throat awkwardly. "Look, I'm just saying, maybe your brain ignore stuff it doesn't like. That happens. Our memories are tainted by bias. We recall things as we want them to be, if we try hard enough. Maybe that's why you blanked out. Your meds are kicking in too late and your body is losing it? It'd totally explain your new attitude to Red and Nova too, people tend to get real aggressive when bipolar remember?"

"No, that's not it Seth." Jake straightened up a bit but still remained seated on the ground. "Even when I first started taking lithium when I was taking my medication regularly before I started skipping it. All it did was make me just really depressed and wanna sit up in my room all day and crap. I never did anything like black out, or sleep walk, or if I got really aggressive its because I hadn't been taking it."

"I think there's something wrong, like something that isn't norm-- ah!" Jake felt a sharp pain jolt through his neck, and his head. That squeezing feeling. He felt earlier.

I'll kill you. Stop talking. NOW.

Just then Jake fell silent, the pain gone. Why had he listened to that voice? Was he really losing it? He couldn't tell Seth! They would have him admitted to the loony bin.

[Tiger-Lily]

"You all right?" Seth asked, leading the way upstairs. "I think you should lie down or something. Do you want me to let Lola know?"

Jake opened his eyes, panicked. "No, no. You cannot under any circumstance let her know. She'll freak out." Jacob lifted himself slowly off the ground every part of him was aching. He felt like he was sixty years old, instead of eighteen.

[Tiger-Lily]

Seth frowned down at him as he looked back down the stairs at him. "Look, um...come on upstairs and I have to tell you something seeing as it won't work out now."

He refused to give details until they reached their suite. Then Seth shut the door behind them and turned to Jake, leading him into Seth's dorm room.

Seht closed the door an lowered his voice. "Okay, look, Ashlee and I kind of had this whole plan, to um, set you and Red up in Ash Creek, okay? And you pretty much just blew it to smithereens, because nwo Ashlee, Luke and possibly even James probably won't let you within ten meters of that girl."

He figured there was no point hiding it now. They couldn't go to Ash Creek...wait, they had to. He couldn't' cancel a private flight! His parents would kill him, thinking he was abusing his privileges!

"So we're stuck going to Ash Creek tomorrow with Evelyn doubtlessly hating you. I saw her when she ran up here and she was definitely crying," he added bluntly.

Jake looked up at Seth, he knew there had to be some reason Seth was pushing for them to go to Ash Creek and this was it.

But Seth was right after what he had done and said Evelyn would pretty much be off limits to him.

I can help you, you can get rid of Luke and James just like that. Getting to Evelyn would be easy after they were gone...

Jacob just wanted Seth to call of the whole thing, they way Jake had been acting these last few days was scaring him and he didn't want to do anything he wouldn't remember and somehow end up in jail or hurting someone.

Why had he made Evelyn cry? He couldn't stand thinking about what he had said to her. It hurt him too much.

Oh boo hoo she's not a virgin, let me play a song for her on the worlds smallest violin. She's a temptress I can see right through her. Well both ways. All she's good for is a a good fuck you know it, I'm just helping out.

"Seth I don't know." Jake said to him. He was really afraid of how unstable he had been.

[Tiger-Lily]

"Dude, I can cancel the flight, but if I do, I'm gonna get severely fucked over. All the staff have been notified, they begin prepping weeks before, you know, for inspections and shit?" Seth said, and then groaned. "It's fine, we can just leave you behind, if worst comes to worst. I'll fl there, myself, and come back, I guess."

He frowned to himself. Oh wow, his dad was going to kill him if he canceled the jet flight. But he was hesitant about taking Jake anywhere, honestly.

"Are you going to apologize to them, at least to James and Evelyn, or what?" he asked. "I mean, I'm kind of shocked that thought didn't even cross your mind, bro. Something's really off with you if you can almost break a sportsman's arm and not give a shit."

He shook his head, too annoyed to talk to Jake further, and left his room, heeding to the living room where Ashton was now playing a last game. Seth sat down and joined him.

Jacob sat for a moment, Seth seemed annoyed but what could he do? Everyone was convinced that Jake had finally lost his mind. But to almost break James' arm? Say all those horrible things about Evelyn? And all of his other strange behavior?

Maybe he was losing his mind. He knew saying sorry to James wasn't gonna change anything, because James hated Jake. Well he probably wanted him dead now after what he did.

It seemed like the only person who believed him was Evelyn, but he really doubted that now more than ever. The twins sort of seemed to be dodging him too.

Jacob let out a long tired breath, all of this was just wearing him out. Ir was like he hadn't slept for days. Jacob needed to set things straight with Evelyn he just had to.

He got up leaving Seth's room, and quietly entering his. He closed the door behind him and opened his window climbing slowly off the ledge.

Carefully he made his way to Evelyn's window, he peered in and saw her in her room. Jake took a deep breath and knocked lightly on her window. Although he wouldn't be surprised if she didn't open it.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn's book was open on top of her cheeks. She'd turned out her dorm room light and only a small lamp glowed beside her on her nightstand. Nova's head perked up and Evelyn didn't stir.

Nova turned, dove to the open window and barked loudly enough to alert all of Lower Manhattan to Jake's presence. The beagle growled furiously and Evelyn rolled over in alarm and pushed her messy hair out of her face. She pulled her stuck book off her cheek and blinked. "Nova..."

Her voice trailed off when her eyes met Jake's dark ones through the dimness of her room. She stilled.

Jake flicked his eyes down and then back up at Evelyn. He didn't like the silence, so he said it. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I know I sound like a fucking broken record but I'm sorry. I would never do or say things like this I don't know what's wron--"

Jake flinched and pushed on. "I hate myself for this I really do. I'd apologize to James but I know he wouldn't care or listen. But I can't expect you to listen or care either." Jake felt like this huge weight was just crushing him as he spoke to Evelyn.

"I don't remember anything and I don't remember the last time I slept. Except for instances when wake up from being passed out. And its scary because I don't know what I'm doing--ow." Jake muttered.

That pain he was becoming familiar with was being inflicted on him again. He closed his eyes tightly for a moment feeling them sting.

Tell her and I kill her. Just like that.

Jacob opened his eyes, he felt so weak and useless. Like he was a puppet being controlled by someone else. His mask he wore to hide his real feelings was gone. "If you don't believe me I understand I don't expect you too. But I couldn't not apologize to you."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn stared at him in silence a moment longer and then closed her eyes and drew her knees up to her chest, clamping her arms around them.

For a moment, she stayed like that, musing. No part of her - if she were honest - believed it really was possible for Jake in his sanest mind to say something like he had ot her.

But it had still hurt. Even if he hadn't meant it, it didn't change the final effect.

The breeze from the window felt cold on her bare legs. She shivered, unable to decide whether to believe him blindly or not. "Come inside, it's - it's cold," she said. She got off her bed and picked up Nova, getting up and putting him in the hallway outside her room. She turned back and closed the door, sinking onto her bed again and drawing her knees to her chest. She wrapped her arms around them again.

Nova barked furiously from the other side. Evelyn bit her lip and shot Jake an extremely distrustful look. She reached to her nightstand and picked up a bottle of mace sitting there, holding it in her hand.

Jake bit his lip, and climbed in. His leg hurt, reminding him how Evelyn had said Nova had bit him.

Jake was so tired, he just wanted to crash. Which he might have because once his feet were planted on Evelyn's floor, he felt his legs give out and he collapsed on the ground.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn, despite herself, instnatly darted up from her bed and was halfway over ot him before she stopped.

Realizing she'd left her mace behind. She swallowed and then examined him carefully. Honestly, he looked too exhausted to even stand, his posture was slumped and worn-out. Why, was he still doing that
crazy bipolarity-induced restlessness thing he'd mentioned before Seth's birthday?

She stepped forward and knelt in front of him. "Hey." Her voice came out unintentionally soft and she slowly reached out like Jake was a wounded tiger or something, gently touching his cheek to tilt his head up toward her. "Are you...have you been sleeping lately?" From the ten inches of distance between their faces, she could clearly see what she'd missed that morning.

Jake had huge circles under his eyes and looked gaunt. He'd looked worn-out at Seth's birthday but now it was way worse. Like he lived on exercise and anorexia.

Nova growled warningly in the hallway.

Jake hadn't been there, he hadn't felt Evelyn touch his cheek. Instead it was the other being fighting for control and instead of behaving coldly like it had earlier.

It realized that Evelyn still seemed to trust Jacob, and that she just seemed to think he was sick from not taking medicine. So the demon knew that if he won Evelyn over, then she would believe Jake for any more things that the demon would make him do.

Leave...her...alone. Jake's conscience fought back weakly against the demon.

Relax and let me take over things a bit. The demon reassured Jacob, tuning him out. He channled the Spaniard's thoughts.

"No." The demon responded in Jake's weak voice.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn watched him a moment, eyes scanning his face uncertainly. But it was still Jake. She relaxed a little, opened her mouth to speak and -

THUD!

Her dorm room door shook and she started, almost tipping sideways in shock as Nova hurtled himself against the door yet again, barking furiously. Evelyn paled and got to her feet hastily. "Oh no!"

He'd definitely get kicked out. She hurried over to the door and pulled it open, grabbing the beagle by his collar before he could attack Jake again. "I don't know what - uh, it must be you harassing him earlier," she said irritably. She knelt and wrapped her arms around the puppy, hugging him to her. "Hey, hey, Nova, calm down, baby, it's all right, it's only Jake - "

At the mention of Jake, Nova, who had been wriggling wildly, gave a sharp growl in Jake's direction. Evelyn tightened her grip on him and sent Jake an apologetic look. "Give me a moment, I'll calm him down."

Nova jerked forward suddenly, fangs snapping inches from Jake's knee. "Nova!" Evelyn scolded him. His usually friendly brown eyes narrowed at the Spaniard hatefully.

Damn that little rat. They can usually detect when its not their owner. But it looks like she doesn't think its anything wrong. Just cause of what I did earlier.

"Nova, its me Jake." He said opening his eyes at the beagle.

How humans could ever be attached to these stupid creatures is beyond me. But bitch needs to get rid of the dog before he blows it. Once I get the little chew toy alone I'll take care of it so he won't disturb us.

[Tiger-Lily]

To this, Nova responded by making a funny hiss-growling sound with clenched teeth, like he was only being held back from tearing Jake's face off by Evelyn's grip on Nova's collar.

Evelyn sighed and picked him up with some difficulty. The puppy was getting large. She took him out into the hallway and to the kitchen. "One second!" she called back to Jake.

She filled a small bowl with a few puppy treats and set it down on the floor for him. Nova momentarily forgot his new hated of Jake and lapped them up eagerly while she tied his leash on and knotted it to the dining table leg. "Sorry, boy, don't want you thrown out." She knelt, kissed his head and placed a few balls and chew toys near his reach before walking back to her room, leaving the door open unintentionally because she was convinced Jake wasn't in that crazy mood right now.

She reached out her hand to him. "C'mon, get off the floor already," she said quietly, face sobering.

Jake reached out grabbing Evelyn's hand and raising himself off of the ground. The demon examined Evelyn, she was a pretty girl no doubt about that. No wonder this kid was always thinking about her. Albeit, the demon had other plans for Evelyn than just a kiss on the cheek. But he needed to be patient.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn pulled her hand free the moment Jake was on hsi feet, and clasped her fingers together in front of her as she stepped back ot sit down at the foot of her bed again (near teh door). Her right hand slipped out and closed around the bottle of mace but it stayed there, hidden among the folds of her duvet as she looked up at him.

"What was I wearing downstairs?" she asked bluntly.

Hmmm, maybe she knows something. Cause the kid doesn't remember. I knew she was wearing shorts that's why her legs look so good, still do. But can't have her suspecting anything. She needs to trust him.

He shook his head, a blank expression on Jake's face. "No, I don't remember."

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn stared up at him, face impassive. "What was I wearing this morning at the running track?"

[Guest]

"Sweats." Jake replied.

That was easy, kid knew once he came out of it.

[Tiger-Lily]

Evelyn fell silent a moment and then looked up at him speculatively.

She sat back a bit further form the edge of her bed and crossed her legs Indian-style underneath herself. "It's weird. You....it's like your visual senses, and possibly every other sense, isn't linked to your brain. Even amnesiacs remember something with prompting...and when they do forget, they forget everything from the start, not bits and pieces of things. So at the running track, after you snapped out of whatever funk you were in, even though you were barely looking at me because you were freaking out the whole time, you knew what I wore. And then downstairs, you commented on what I was wearing, so you saw it but didn't remember it after you woke out of this thing. That's just weird and I don't think that's normal either."

Shit. She's caught me. I need to think of something. She can't be suspicious.

Jacob on the inside was wondering where this voice was coming from? Where all these hurtful things he had said or done were suddenly sprouting from? Why was this voice answering to him and pushing him away into darkness. He could see Evelyn, he could hear his own voice responding to her questions. But he knew it wasn't him, he knew that all these things people were saying that he was doing or saying wasn't him.

Why are you doing this? Why are you lying to her? Leave her alone. Let me out. Jake questioned the new presence in him.

Shut up, I'm taking care of things for you. Don't worry everything will be explained soon. Just relax. The voice responded back to Jake.

No, no. Let me out. Why can't I move, or talk? Why are you talking for me? Why am I doing all of this? Let me out, let me out! Jacob fought against the thing, grabbing to get control of his mind and his body, he didn't want this thing this presence here. He could feel something was wrong. That this wasn't because he had forgotten to take his medication. This was something darker, something worse.

"Let me out." Jake's real voice muttered out weakly, and the demon responded by clamping a hand over Jake's mouth. Shut up. Or I will snap your own neck in front of your girlfriend here. Then you'll never see her again. He threatened. Because he wasn't above killing Jacob or Evelyn right now.
